for bridge mode no need of telnet scrips.follow this procedure---
    for connect/disconnect use batch files.
paste these lines in notepad & save files as connect.bat & disconnect.bat

    for disconnect.bat---
    rasdial "bsnl" /disconnect
    for connect
    rasdial "bsnl" ******_***@bsnl.in password
where bsnl is the name of my connection(it depends on what name you give to your connection)
    ******_***@bsnl.in is my username
    password is my password

schedule these .bat files to run at 1:55AM(disconnect) & 2:05AM(connect) then again run disconnect.bat at 7:55AM.
remember to save files as .bat as notepad saves files as .txt by default.when saving files select the file type as all files & then save the file as .bat.bat files are like .exe files & when you double click on them they execute like exe files.you can check your files by double clicking on connect.bat & disconnect.bat to see if they are working.

Also if u are of a habbit of swiching off the machine after ur work is done then u can simply check the checkbox in the properties of the scheduled task named : Wake the computer to run this task.

U can find it like this :
Scheduled Tasks :->Choose the scheduled task ->Get into its properties by right clicking it -> Approach the Settings Tab -> Check the last check box.

But to be sure it runs u will need to hibernate the machine instead of turning it off.Or u can put it to standby so that the scheduled process will wake it on its own.
Cos the process cant socalled "Wake" the computer if its turned off.
Also make sure that u keep the power to the machine ON.

anyway for that scheduler to work you need to keep the modem on isn't it?
so what would be the approx usage when i keep modem on without connecting from 10pm to 2 am?
when i put the xp in standby from 10pm to 2 am is there a way to automatically wake it up at 2pm?

whitestar why should i disconnect at 1:55am when just the modem is on without connecting?

in bridge mode even if modem is on no data transfer takes place because connection can be made only through computer.if you put XP in standby/hibernate mode & you have selected the option"wake my PC to run this task"in task scheduler computer will wake up at specified time to run the task you have set.

i said disconnect at 1:55AM beause that was meant for another user.i just copy pasted my old reply.there is no need for you to disconnect at 1:55AM.

    Default download perfect macro recorder

    Download Perfect macro recorder......
keep your connect to broadband shortcut on top right corner of desktop...record connecting and disconnecting procedures.

    Now download system scheduler....

add these macros to it and schedule these macros to run at 2.04 am and 7.56 am....
only thing you have to do is to keep utorrent on and last but not least whole PC on

go to start->Control panel->Users and a new window would pop up.. click on the user which does not have the password.. then you will find a option called "Create a password" click on it and set a password!!

i thought atleast a few mb will be taken away for keeping the modem on from 10pm to 2am. but for the past 2 days the bsnl didn't count any usage from 10pm to 2am.
i guess only if u connect u would get counted, not for just keeping the modem on. here's the broadband account management page. i used for 2, 3 june.

i'm now sure that if u just keep the modem on without connecting u won't be charged. for the past 5 days i have kept the modem on without connecting from 10pm to 2 am and not charged during this time.

modem does not transfer any data while in bridge mode because connection is made by computer.in pppoe mode modem transfer some data(few KB's/MB)to keep connection alive as in this mode modem is making the connection.
