    Default modemsettings

    i want to set a modem password but when i type 192.168.1.1
    in explorer it display the page cannot be display or the internet explorer
    cannot display the web page

    i tried resetting the modem then i am able to go to 192.168.1.1
    i do settings for pppoe and Bridging then do the reboot but again the same
    problem when i again go to 192.168.1.1 the same error message is displayed

    sol????

    before rebooting did you apply the settings?once you click on apply it will take around 2 minutes for modem to apply new settings.once this process is over then restart the modem.make sure that during this process modem power supply does not go off or your modem will be damaged.

    i tried that waited for 2 minutes still did not work the same message
    some other solution?

    when page cannot be displayed message is shown, did you try pinging at that time? what was the response at that time?

    i tried that display
    request timed out but i can surf the net no problems!!
    so what does that means?

    is your system or any other computer in your network running webserver? did you create any virtual server in port 80?

    sorry for asking so many questions because your case doesnt seem to be a typical one.

    i don't have a network and i don't think i have done such settings
    but can you guide me to check for such things??

    connect to your modem through http. there will be an option for configuring virtual sever settings, paste here the screenshot...

    i did not find option for what you said but instead now i can set the password for the modem and the message is not shown

    now how did that happened?

    how did you access it previously? same as http://192.168.1.1?

    I suspect that your modem might be irresponsive at that time for http access...

    in such case i should not have been accessing the different website
    which i was able too
    well i have set password for the modem

    I dont mean that your modem is irresponsive for connection, it might be irresponsive for http access to itself...ok anyway you got it now, thats great!
