What is the use of portal id?
How to get portal id and password?

portal id is used for checking your account usage and to change your BSNL broadband password however you cannot change your username ofcourse.

to get your portal ID- go to your nearest telephone exchange and ask the person incharge he will give you a unique 14 characters alpha-numeric ID and password through which you will be able to login to your account at the website of BSNL

The difference between the portal ID and your broadband ID is as follows

Portal ID: 14 characters alphanumeric

Broadband ID: only username is there for eg: xyz_(your city name)



Note: you cannot use your broadband ID in the BSNL website to check your account you have to enter your portal ID there to check it

In Telephone exchage staff said user id is same as portal id?is it true?

What do you mean by "clear" solution i have already explained you

user ID : it is used to connect to the internet

Portal ID : it is used to check your account usage

After loggging in you will automatically see what that site includes

there are two catagories of users
1st catagory users check their usage using portal id and password (mostly new users)
2nd catagory checks usage using broadband id and password. for more details check this

@player,old users who have IP 59.x.x.x have only one ID using which they check their usage at sites like 10.x.x.x

new users having IP 117.x.x.x need portal ID to login to bsnl portal to check their usage.we new users can't login at these sites like 10.x.x.x which old users use to check their usage.
