Default BSNL broadband working without username, password

Initially when i got BSNL broadband, i was given a user id, password for connection. It was working fine. And now i donno wat happened im not able to connect with my user id, password. But the internet seems to be working fine without user id, password.

Is it ok to work without user id, password??
Or do i need to connect only using the user id, password?

And im a new customer, so my IP address starts with 117.
    i.e. 117.x.x.x

do you get connected by just turning on the modem or do you need to use windows to connect to net.if you get by connected by just turning on the modem then your modem is now working in pppoe mode with your username/password in modem itself.

    Default Got it corrected

Initially I was connecting using Windows only using bridge mode and recently I had modified my router settings to store the username/password in it to use it in pp* mode. So it was connecting directly by switching it on.

Thanks for the help & support.

It is harmless to switch. It will not solve disconnection problems but whenever disconnection happens, modem will dial automatically and try to connect.

If you facing continuous disconnections, have your line inspected.

I used to get the same error. I complained and complianed - finally they rectified the problem in the line.

Check SNR Margin (must be > 10 db) and Line Attenuation (must be < 30 db) values.

lower the upload speed limit in uTorrent to ~20KBps & then see if it helps.also if connection drop occurs only when uTorrent is running & not otherwise then there is no problem with your line.

I m with Bridge mode, PPPOE sucks for users with limited bundled usage plan.
For Unlimited plans, PPPOE is better.
Again Bridge is better for NU plans.

yo man... u rock... limiting upload to 20 solved my connection drop prob... utorrent recorded 1.8 gb d/l durin those sacred 6 hours...hence, for the 1st time in a month utorrent recorded greater than 1.5 gb d/l... d/l speed in utorrent has increased from 80-120kbps to 140-180 kbps... thanx a million buddy... i wonder y didnt it clicked to me...

Please be careful. They may give you a massive bill. Take a print out of your usage and talk to the Senior Divisional Engineer in person. Or you can complain to Nodal officer or Appellate authority. Address and phone no on the backside of your bill.

Before plan change, Please refer this

You have an USERID and PW to connect to Internet.
You have a 14 digit portal Id to check
    usage in BSNL usage portal
    BSNL - Broadband Account Management

    Para two:
Now go to usage portal and
Save to hardisk billed data for April 2009.
Again check for unbilled data for May 2009. till date.
    Also. My orders page status.

You have not mentioned your tariff plan.
    stick to the usage limit.
If "My Orders " shows "Provisioned"
    use only that plan quota.

Tariff Plan change normally to be effected from
    1st of each month.
Any way give an application and
get a stamped receipt from CC Exchange.
Your BB connection bill may be included
in May 2009 ( including April usage )

    Para three ;
For reference see this link on Bsnl BB matters.
    Book mark , if needed.
