    Default Bsnl Broadband Not Working Properly

    There is some problem i am facing with BB Net for Last 20 days approx.

    Some sites are not opening at all. and some are opening very slow.. Download and Upload Speed is not also so good.

    As i am running BB in My Cyber Cafe.. most of the customers complaining aboout the service.

    I am using ZTE ZXDSLAII modem. Ppoe always on. OPEN DNS Servers.
    The problem is not constant. means sometimes these sites opening after restarting the modem. but opening very slow.

    I am really very much frustrated with the net. Yahoomail, Hotmail, Gmail and others sites not opening properly..

    Wht should i do ?

    try lowering MTU value in modem setting(default is 1500).try 1492,160,1452 you can try other values too.this MTU setting is usually in LAN setting in modem.

    Thanks for your Reply.
    I had already changed the MTU..right now i am using 1460 aS MTU...but problem is still as it is.

    Right now for example i am trying to open cbse.nic.in for last 20 mins approx. ..its not opening at all both in Internet Explorer and Firefox..both showing the same problem with BB NET.

    I have thn used Airtel GPRS to surf.. although it is pretty slow..but has opened the complete site in 3 mins approx

    attaching a Snapshot with BB NEt ..please have your kind attention..

    one more guy in this forum has posted that he is also facing similar problems..
    Below is the response i gave to him
    ---
    The problem seems to be dns resolution issue.
    a) Try running below command
    ping -a 72.14.207.99
    check whether it resolves to google.com. If possible post the screen shot of the output
    b) Try running below command
    c:>nslookup
    ...
    ...
    > Google (at this prompt, type google website)
    Also post the screenshot of this output too.
    These two will help us in identifying and confirming that dns resolution is the issue.

    so you have 208.67.222.222 as dns. do you still have any other IPs in the dns? if so delete them. keep only this IP in dns.

    if you have alternate modem, check bsnl connectivity with that modem to ensure that modem is not creating any problems

    try opening these sites in free web proxy sites like
    Anonymouse.org

    if you can open these sites in proxy sites then problem is definitely in dns severs.

    encrypted connections!are you trying to open some https site?anyway try to open some normal site which you are having trouble opening.another free proxy--
    Ninja Cloak | Fast, free, anonymous web browsing with NinjaCloak.com

    also just for experiment set dns server setting to automatic in both modem & computer LAN TCP/IP properties.
    Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
    Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
    Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

    windows live is opening.as for the unusual look it is because the "remove scripts"option(at top of page) is checked.uncheck this option.it is located below the box in which you enter the URL of site to open.also uncheck"no referrer".

    This is one of the most hopeless service being availoable in India. You may please go to Airtel broadband which is the best. Most hopeless and irresponsible office staff. Since last 15 days I am trying their complaint no. 2375000 no response. Such idiotic persons shoule be removed from service with immediate effect, then only any implementation can take place.

    Today i discussed my problem with ALL INDIA BROADBAND HELPLINE :
    They told to run few tests. I did the same.
    here are the test report :

    :::.. testmy.net test results ..:::
    Download Connection is:: 485 Kbps about 0.49 Mbps (tested with 512 kB)
    Download Speed is:: 59 kB/s
    Upload Connection is:: 147 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)
    Upload Speed is:: 18 kB/s
    Tested From:: testmy.net :: Broadband Speed Test and Internet Bandwidth Community (Main)
    Test Time:: 2008/06/04 - 2:38am
    D-Validation Link:: testmy.net :: Member Stats
    U-Validation Link:: testmy.net :: Member Stats
    User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0 [!]

    i have told the executive that i am getting some problem with BB Net.. he idio told me that i am getting the more speed than my plan..and there is no issue of talking abt speed..and as i am getting more speed than my plan ..my speed will be reduced further..

    I am using 3000 BUSINESS PLAN..IS the test results shown above are really true according to HELPLINE's executive?

    Wht the hell BSNL thinks abt ?

    as far as i know all business plans are upto 2 mbps & in your case speeds are promised from 512kbps upto 2mbps.what you are getting is 512kbps which technically is correct because bsnl say 512kbps upto 2mbps.you are definitely not getting higher speeds but the lowest possible speed in the range of 512kbps-2mbps.try to download some big file(like DirectX 9c) from microsoft's site or softpedia using a download manager like flashget,internet download manager(IDM) etc. to see how much speed you get.don't rely on speed tests.

    Ya i have already tried that..when i am downloading any big file using FLASHGET..sometimes iam getting speed 150 KBPS to 205 KBPS..which is quite good. but i m getting it sometimes only. other wise speed is 50KBPS to 80 KBPS approx.

    even some times download is not starting at all and the speed is fluctuating in TASKBAR to 5.4 KBPS only and sometimes it does not completing at all like this snapshot :

    I am not going to understand only one problem, which i want the solution. As till afternoon i was able to open HOTMAIL.com, but right now its not opening at all. other sites also behaving like this. why this so?

    Can temprature b the issue?
