Question Can someone else use my broadband connection?

Hey, can someone else connect to the internet using my broadband id and password from some other connection. If that is so, i may end up with mammoth bills. I m asking coz i got my friend's id and successfully connected to the internet from my bsnl number

it could be possible.. it all depends.. if your connection is port binded then you dont have to worry.. but if you friend is close by and you are able to access his account.. then others may be able to access yours too!!

if port binding is not at your place then anyone can use your account using your broadband ID and password

ask at your local exchange or simply try to connect at some friend's house using your account.

You can try your account in another line, if you are able to get thro' then it is not port binded.
More over you said you are able to access your friend's account on your connection, so yours is not port binded,

okay thanks...so my connection isn't port binded! anyway...i've changed my password. kept a strong one this time.
One more thing i wanna ask, i applied for my plan change to Home 900 which is now Home 750. My account status showed Home 750 Open 2 days back, Future Dated yesterday and Provisioned today!!! And i am still getting 2Mbps speed. So i am still using the net cautiously. Can u tell me is my plan changed now or what's going on??

well provisioned means your plan is changed but then you should not be getting 2mbps speeds.since its BSNL don't take risk & wait for the bill first which clearly mention your plan as unlimited.

This question has been asked hundreds of times - and rightly so. People should worry about their BB account.

You have said that you could login by using your friend's account. Assuming that your friend is in your city/town, it is equally likely that someone else can login with your account (in your city).

Best way, as suggested above, is to change your default BSNL password and make it a really strong one - at least 10~12 chars with a healthy mix of uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers and special characters.

Edit: Apologies - I see that you have already taken the steps
