Go to BASIC SETTINGS in the router:
Click 'YES' for 'Does your Internet Connection require a login?'
    For ENCAPSULATION select PPPoA.
For Login enter the username & Password that BSNL Dataone gave you in full.
For INTERNET IP ADDRESS click 'Get Dynamically From ISP'
For DNS ADDRESS click 'Get Automatically From ISP.'
    For NAT click 'Enable.'
Next go into the ADSL SETTINGS menu and for Multiplexing select 'VC Based.' or LLC based (try both)
    For VPI enter zero.
For VCI enter 35 and Apply.
    Clicked on CONNECT.

This soultion didnot work. Does the user name come with additional tags like xxxx@bsnl.in?
BSNL call centres are absolutely useless in Mysore.
I bought this device in UK, does that have anything to do to this problem?

My ADSL modem and router seems to pick broadband signals, as the "i" light turns green.
Should it be PPPoA or PPPoE?

1.Start run type cmd type ipconfig/all
    Post data.

2.Post screen shot of Device status.

    REF:http://applegrew.blogspot.com/2007/1...view-plus.html
    Now the steps:-

    1. Goto the admin panel of the router (http://192.168.0.1/). (* find out Ip from Ipconfig/all)
    2. Goto Basic Settings and enter the following values.
    i) Does your internet connection require a login? Yes
ii) Encapsulation: PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)
iii) Login: Your BSNL Account username (* try also without @ bsnl.in)
iv) Password: Your BSNL Account password
    v) Service Name: [keep it blank]
vi) Idle Timeout: 0 (if you want to remain connected always)
vii) Internet IP Address: Get Dynamically From ISP
viii) Domain Name Server (DNS) address: Use These DNS Servers
    a) Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222
    b) Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220
['Get Automatically From ISP' may work but I haven't tried it]
ix) NAT (Network Address Translation): Enabled
    3. Now click Apply.
    4. We are not done yet. Goto ADSL Settings and enter/choose the following values.
    i) Multiplexing Method: LLC-BASED
    ii) VPI: 0
    iii) VCI: 35
iv) DSL Mode: Auto (Multi-Mode) [You can give ADSL2+ a try if this does not work.]
    5. Now click Apply here too.

Now reboot your router (i.e. turn it off and then on again).
    (* my comments )

    Default Need some help....

    Hey guys,

I just got the Netgear DG834G Wireless Router Modem. I'm trying to switch over from the Huawei MT880 provided by BSNL. My problem is that the modem is unable to acquire an IP from the PPPoE server in spite of providing the right credentials.

After connecting the RJ45 & RJ11 cables, n powering the DG834G, I tried the following steps to no avail:
    A. Setup from Netgear CD
    1. Ran the setup wizard, but the setup screen wouldn't move past the second screen (none of the buttons responded! )

    B. Manual setup
    1. Logged into the modem at 192.168.0.1 with default credentials
    2. Set country to Other, language to English, selected Manual configuration.
    3. In Basic Settings, selected 'YES' for 'Does your Internet Connection require a login?'
    For Encapsulation, selected PPPoE.
For Login, entered username & password provided by BSNL (same one entered in the MT880 for WAN setting).
For Internet IP ADDRESS, selected 'Get Dynamicaly From ISP'
    For DNS address, entered 206.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220
    For NAT, selected 'Enable'
    Clicked 'Apply'.
    4. In ADSL Settings, selected VC based, entered VPI/VCI values as 0/35, and selected mode as Auto (I later tried all possible combinations i.e. LLC based, n ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+... shouldn't matter but still gave it a try )
    Clicked 'Apply'.
    5. In LAN settings, I changed the modem IP to 192.168.1.1 and enabled DHCP, with IP range from 192.168.1.2 to 254.
    6. In Wireless settings, I specified b&g, channel as 11, enabled SSID viewing, chose WPA as the security protocol, entered a passkey and clicked 'Apply'.

After this, I set the LAN connection on my PC to automatically acquire IP & DNS and then in my browser I entered the new IP of the modem to log in.
Login worked but the modem doesn't seem to be connecting to the PPPoE server.

I'm wondering whether I need to specify (username)@bsnl.in or (username)@datone.in or something... I've never had to add the domain when authenticating with the MT880.

    Help!

    Thanks.

    1.try without @ bsnl.in or @ dataone.in.

2.As I am "Always On" selected "No" for dialup in netgear.

3.Start/ RUN type cmd type ipconfig /all
    Post results.

    Para two:
4.Confirm getting connected to internet with MT880 settings.
    REF: MT880
    http://210.212.160.18/broadband-conf/type1.htm

    5. In DG834 Rj11 from phone junction may go
    directly by-passing ADSL splitter.
Is there another Phone port to connect Telephone ?

    thanks for the response essbebe.

    1.try without @ bsnl.in or @ dataone.in.
I tried all possible combos (i.e without @ bsnl.in , without @ dataone.in, adding them at the end)
The red internet light on the router seems to light up only if I don't add the domain names, so I guess it doesn't need to be added!

2.As I am "Always On" selected "No" for dialup in netgear.
I went through all the settings in the modem, but couldn't find this one.

4.Confirm getting connected to internet with MT880 settings.
The MT880 connection settings are working ok... I'm using it right now (in PPPoE mode). In any case I've posted a couple of screenshots from the MT880

    5. In DG834 Rj11 from phone junction may go
    directly by-passing ADSL splitter.
Is there another Phone port to connect Telephone ?
I've 2 phone outlets in my house (working ones, both the same bsnl line); I tried both with n without the splitter, but it didn't make any difference

I'm adding some of the screenshots from the DG834G, and the ipconfig details after setting up the connection.

    Thanks.

see Annexure. (from your zip file) Select NO.
Use DG834 as an independent modem.
    Try LAN port ethernet port.
    Then WIFI unsecured.
    last wifi secured .

    see also post by @superprash2003.

    thanks again essbebe.

I finally got it work!!!!

I tried what you suggested... I reset the modem to factory settings n then gave the following settings. Just mentioning the steps here in case anyone else as silly as me needs help :blushing:

Ensure the Local Area Connection > Properties > IPv4 settings properties has both IP adresses & DNS set to acquire automatically.

    In Basic:
    Password needed: Yes
    Encapsulation: PPPoe
Username: (bsnl username) without appending any datone.in or bsnl.in
    Password: (bsnl password)
Set IP to be acquired automatically from ISP
DNS servers: gave OpenDNS servers (206.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220)
    Click Apply

    In ADSL:
    Select Multiplexing method as LLC
    VPI: 0
    VCI: 35
    DSL Mode: Auto
    Click Apply

    In LAN IP setup:
LAN TCP/IP setup, IP address: 192.168.2.1
Enable Use Router as DHCP Server
Enter IP range as 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.254
    Click Apply

Open cmdprompt and release & renew the IP (using commands ipconfig/ release and then ipconfig/renew)
Disable and then enable the LAN connection being used.

Internet connection is now ready to use

    Thanks.
