What are the best plans available? Would you recommend BSNL, Reliance or other service? (I am thinking about getting mobile also, don't want any plan that makes to stuck with landline)

There are three types of ISPs:

- the first type provide broadband over telephone. You need a fixed landline connection for this. BSNL, Airtel, Reliance, Tata Indicom, etc. fall in this category.
- the second provide broadband over cable. You need a cable connection for this. Hathway, Sify, YOU telecom, etc. fall in thuis category
- the third provide high-speed internet over Wi-Max (note that this is not broadband). For this all you need is a Wi-Max tower in range.

The first category is the best but you need to have a landline for this. BSNL and Airtel are the best amongst all types. If you opt for a combo plan (from either BSNL or Airtel) you do not have to pay for a landline rent also.
