Hi there. I am using D-Link modem for dataone. Here are some information on how to setup for PPPoE.
Before starting, confirm that the ADSL lamp is glowing in the modem. This confirms that the hardware wiring part is through. Once the RJ-45 (Ethernet) cable is connected to the computer, LAN lamp glows at the modem.

    1. In the network connection setting of your PC/Laptop, for TCP/IP, set the default gateway as 192.168.1.1 which should be the IP address of your modem (confirm from the manual) and set the network TCP/IP (for this connection) as 192.168.1.2 . Feed the IP addresses for Preferred DNS server and Alternate server in the same TCP/IP configuration which are given by your BSNL Broad band customer care.

    2. Open the internet browser (IE or Firefox). In the address column, type 192.168.1.1 and press enter. Make sure that 192.168.1.1 is the IP address set for your modem. You can confirm this in the manual supplied. If the address is correct, you will get the login page asking for username and password.

    3. Feed username as "admin" and password as "admin" and press enter. You will get the configuration menu.

    4. Click "Set up" tab and you will get option for setting LAN, WAN etc...

    5. Under WAN, click "New connection" . Confirm that the type of connection is PPPoE. Give some name to the connection on the top. Below you will find username and password. You should feed these fields with those given by BSNL. Feed VPI as "0" and VCI as "35" (you can confirm this from BSNL customer care, I use these figures in my connection). Once completed, click "Apply".

    6. Click "Tools" on the top menu. Click "system commands" and click "Save". The page gets refreshed once the command is executed. If everything is perfect, you should get the LED "PPPoE" on the modem glowing. If not, there is something wrong.

    7. You can either restart the modem or switch off and switch ON. If all 4 LEDs glow on the modem, you are done. Directly access the internet by clicking web browser software. All the best. Any specific queries, don't hesitate to ask. Regards.
