Default Can't access internet in Fedora 6

    Hi guys..,

I'm a subscriber of BSNL 500C plan connecting to net through Nokia Siemens c2110 modem. I use IBM thinkpad R51 lappy, a dual boot machine with windowsXp and Fedora 6 installed. My connection is working fine in Windows but I'm not able to access internet in Linux. I've tried both graphical and text-based(using /sbin/adsl-setup) methods of setting up a new xDSL connection. The following are the settings I provided while setting up the connection:

    Ethernet Interface: eth0
    User name: <myusername>@dataone
    Activate-on-demand: No
    Primary DNS: 61.1.96.69
    Secondary DNS: 61.1.128.5
    Firewalling: NONE
    User Control: yes

After adsl-setup, when i tried to bring up my adsl connection, the following error was returned:
    [root@BD-167 ~]# /sbin/ifup ppp0
    /sbin/adsl-start: line 214: 4151 Terminated $CONNECT "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1

When I checked the network connections window, I found that my eth0 interface is active and from G2IpMessenger, I came to know that my machine got an Ip Address of 192.168.1.2 from eth0 interface. But I’m not able to access the internet.

when i tried pinging, the following was the result:
    [root@BD-167 ~]# ping 209.85.175.104
    PING 209.85.175.104 (209.85.175.104) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 192.168.1.1 icmp_seq=1 Destination Net Unreachable

I tried openDNS servers as my primary and secondary DNS servers but of no use.
Please help me solve the problem. I'm a newbie to Linux. So please suggest a detailed solution.
    Awaiting a quick response
