Thread: site accessing problem

I have been using BSNL broadband for the last 3 months and have been noticing the porblem as mentioned below.
1. microsoft update site has never opened from this connection of bsnl broadband
2. from the past 6 days icici bank site is not opening but the same is opening from bsnl gprs
3. few other sites are also not opening.
4. the site which are opening are opening pretty fast but the one which are not opening are not opening at all

Can someone guide me for the same and let me know the reason of the problem.

2 possible solutions----
1.try lowering MTU value(default 1500)in modem settings(it is usually in LAN setting).
2.use open dns instead of bsnl dns servers.you can check if this problem is due to dns by trying to open these sites in a free proxy site like

if these sites opens that means problem is with dns.use these open dns servers--208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

try using opendns as whitestar said.. also in general i feel there is some problem with bsnl.. i sometimes find slow browsing speeds .. rebooting helps ...depends again...
