    Default enter my modem settings

    i wanted to alter my modem settings when i typed http://192.168.1.1 or similar addresses it did not work when i checked for default gateway in ipconfig it was empty how can i modify my modem settings

    are you able to connect to the internet.. please post a screenshot of ipconfig output

    you can manually enter the IP addresses from the control panel>>>network connections then right click on your connection i.e. LAN or wireless and click properties then go to TCP/IP and check the option "use the following ip address in there type these

    IP Address: 192.168.1.(any number b/w 2 to 254)
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

    Preferred DNS: 208.67.220.220
    Sec. DNS: 208.67.222.222


    then see if you are able to open modem settings

    When you are not able to open modem settings by typing 192.168.1.1 in your browser the probem is that you are not able to communicate with the modem though it is connected through LAN or wi-fi....... the connected PC is not able to get an IP address to communicate with the modem
