    Hey guys,

I am new user on this Forum and i am looking for some Help from you..here are some few questions.Hope you'll answer that pretty easily.....

I am using Beam cable from past 2 years now..and i am ok with there service...i have a plan of 256 kbps home magic UNLIMITED ..and i get 25-26kbps speed on an average . now i am looking forward to move on and planning to take BSNL Broadband..I have a few questions before taking new connection.

    1. I am a Downloading Freak i download movies everyday from Torrents..Which plan is Best for me to use which will give me Pure satisfaction in terms of money i pay and the service i Get and Speeds.

    2. I heard Bsnl is Offering Home 500 C+ Plan which has speed of 256kbps/upto 2mbps and unlimited downloading in night 2-8A.M.It has a download limit of 2.5Gb/month....i have a question does this limit of 2.5Gb is Divided on a per day basis or it can be used in 1 day or used in 1 full month(offcourse i will never do that)..

    3. What is the average speed you guys get from this plan during night unlimited(Especially Torrents..........)??

4.Is there any schedular for starting the net after 2 am and disconnecting before 8 am

    5. I have also heard in this forum that People get excess billing even if they download in free period..why does this happen??and what is the solution for this..

6.Do i need to pay the modem and security deposit in advance??

7.How much time it takes to get the connection after visting BSNL's Office?

8 What modem Type should i take and which one is Best for speeds.

    9. which one is good ADSL or ADSL2 am i going to use one these if i get connection??

thank you looking forward for your replies...

    1)you answered this yourself in the 2nd question(HOME 500C)
2)you can use 2.5gb per month.. its for one whole month.its not a per day basis
3)depends normally around 200-220KBps..depends on various factors seeds etc
4)Yes.. there is.. different for bridged mode and ppoe mode.. depends on what you would like
5)Well thats just unfortunate..very rarely happens..you can get it sorted out normally by going to the CC and complaining..
6)It would normally come in your next month's landline bill
7)Depends.1 week or normally 2-3 weeks.. but if there is lot of demand in your area then 2-3months ...
8)All modem same speed.take the wifi one for 1800rs .. its worth it , pretty affordable and can be handy in the future incase you dont have wifi now
    9)Yes.. ADSL I guess..

mostly you will get avg speeds around 200KBps for public torrents & more for private one assuming they are good seeded.

i have a question does this limit of 2.5Gb is Divided on a per day basis or it can be used in 1 day or used in 1 full month(ofcourse i will never do that)..
you can use the limit in hours if you want.do remember one thing though this limit you will get is only if your connection is activated from 1st of month.e.g.if you get connection on,say,15th of this month your limit will be half for that period & bill will also be half.in this case they calculate bill & limit by taking per day basis.this is only for first month.afterwards you will always get the full limit for full month & bill.

I have also heard in this forum that People get excess billing even if they download in free period..why does this happen??and what is the solution for this..
sometimes people applied for home 500 & got instead home 250(myself too faced the same problem but i got my bill corrected)so make sure your plan is the one you applied for before downloading heavily.also restart your modem(in case you use pppoe mode in which you get connected by just turning on the modem as your bsnl username/password is saved in modem)at 2:05AM & 7:55AM OR disconnect & reconnect at these times if you use bridge mode in which you enter your bsnl username/password in windows dialer to connect to net.regularly check your usage at bsnl portal BSNL - Broadband Account Management using 14characters portal ID(like ami12345678901)different from the one use to connect to net.portal shows your day time & free time usage & your bill will come as per these readings.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

it depends on you what do you want to use whether you want to connect manually by dialing (bridge mode) to your net or automatically(pppoe acronym for poin to point protocol over ethernet) i.e. you will not have to dial, modem will do the dialing for you.

mostly bridge mode is preferred for the users who are having download limited plan and in this mode all the ports are already forwarded to achieve high speeds in torrents.
