in your LAN TCP/IP settings set IP address as 192.168.1.x where x can be any no. between 3 to 253.e.g.192.168.1.4 also set default gateway as 192.168.1.1 & dns as automatic.now when you try 192.168.1.1 you should see a scrren asking for username/password.use admin/admin.

Red face

Ok.. I use the same connection/plan as of the topic creator and face the same problem with utorrent. I read the 'Port forwarding' procedure and a bit confused.. I want tomake sure, b4 i try it, that it is safe, legal, it wont change any vital settings, and have a little doubt that.. suppose if u do the 'Port forwarding' for 1 software, will it affect the download speeds of others??

yes!that's pppoe.port forwarding won't affect download speed of other softwares if setup correctly.TCP & UDP are communication protocols & only thing you need to know is that any application accessing internet requires that the TCP/UDP communication is allowed at such ports which are then called open ports which that application use(e.g.ftp softwares use port 21).

this model provided by bsnl don't have a virtual server option.in advanced setup go to NAT-DMZ & enter your PC's IP there(192.168.1.x).

no port forwarding option is available in ut300r2u provided by bsnl.you have to use DMZ & yes its less secure but then if you use a good antivirus & firewall your security is as good as in pppoe mode.anyway it doesn't matter if you use pppoe or bridge/DMZ if you don't have good security softwares installed your computer will get infected sooner or later.
