In 500 plans, ur Broadband range is 256kbps/2Mbps.. Therefore, u should get more speeds.. For example, my plan speed is 256kbps. Therefore the download speed is 256/8=32kBps.. But, when i was using the speed range of2Mbps, i was getting atleast minimum of 50 Kbps.. and Normally i willl get 150-190 Kbps dl speeds... This is for direct downloads im talkin about.. I dunno about the torrent speeds..

    Nimesh,

Your torrent speed depends on the number of seeders/peers you have for that particular forum...If you have 0 peers/0 seeders it will be 0kb for that file...
It also depends on the max upload limit /sec set by the seeders torrent program.
Check your download speed by downloading a file from some decent server.
Else use some speed testing tools over the net like speedtest.net but the results may not be accurate always

Some internet service providers are known to bottle neck speeds on ports normally used for torrents and 6969 is a very good example of this issue.

Try using a proxy for your torrents tracker and you should be able to get a lot better speeds provided there are enough seeds available.

to know speed of Broadband first u have to clear the concept and differnce of Bits and Bytes.
    1 Bytes=8 bits
so if ur plan is 256kbps(kilo bits per second)
    =256/8
=32 kBps (kilo bytes per second)

Now about Torrent(p2p or peer to peer)
its actualy using ur UDP port not TCP
so ur all the ports(port forwarding) should be open for that u have to contact ur ISP
then after u will able to get more speed in Torrent
