i switch on my modem before i sleep around 12. my comp switches on automatically around 2.15 (sync time with BSNL) nd i switch off da modem by 7.45 in da morning. i hav configured utorrent t download btwn 2-8am. even then ill b charged lik 50-200mb.

bt this prob is nt there wit my fren. he got a connection recently nd has new portal. in his portal he is charged separately for 2-8am free download. so even if he switches on da modem at 12 nd comp gets on by 2, he is nt charged nythin.

plz help me out..

no.. are you on bridged mode or ppoe mode?

i guess i am in ppoe mode..
cuz bridge works lik dial-up rite?
m nt usin lik dial-up.. switch on modem nd it automatically connects..

then you would obviously be charged... you need to switch on your modem after 2am and switch it off before 8am for it to be free..or just reboot your modem at 2 and 8 am..you can schedule this reboot so that you dont have to wake up at night.. here's how you do it Prashanth Speaks-Technology and Life: Reboot adsl modem or router using telnet script

prash du hav ny idea bout da new connections.. they dont get charged.. m plannin t surrender dis nd apply 4 new connection jus 4 tat..

Those charged MBs might be for the download which happens during the non-free period either before 2 am or after 8 a.m, that even if it is on for minuts with torrent on, you will get that much mb, so you better switch it off before 8 a.m. itself or switch it on after 2 a.m. and there is also time lag between user and bsnl's time, do check with that.

i hav checked wit bsnl time.. its proper..

Then it is understood that some spywares on your system. Clean with some good spyware removers.
