    To secure your wifi zone,

    a) Disable DHCP as your's is the only laptop going to connect

    b) Change default SSID

    c) if an option available, Choose Hide SSID

    d) Use Preshared Key / WPA in modem and use the same key in your laptop to connect to WiFi

    e) Do you have any access-list option in your modem? If so, include your MAC/IP to allow connection, the rest of IPs will be automatically banned.

    Default BSNL LAN hangs laptop

the problem now is that as I connect to internet via ethernet cable, the momnet it gets connected. Now if i dont open any msngr or browser its fine, as i try to sign in or open a browser and try to open a site or msngr it gets freezed up as it is. Then I have to push power swith on my laptop to power off and restart. There's no such problem in connecting via WiFi. Iget good speed but unable to chk usage, it says invalid username or password.
What could be the problem? Do i need to configure LAN settings of my modem at 192.168.1.1? And if yes what are those setings? Plz help

update/reinstall your laptop ethernet drivers.also to connect laptop/computer to modem you need to use a RJ45 crossover cable different from normal LAN cable.when you are connected via ethernet go to command prompt(in run box type cmd)& type ipconfig /all.post the results here.
