    Default Torrents Downloading>>>

    hi guy's
    m using home 500 plan..
i alwasy download movies frm torrent sites..using bit comet
    i got speed in betwn 100 - 160 kb/s
bt some times movie download in 1 hour (700 mb).. got speed abt 250 kbp/s n above
bt sum time times it take 3 hour(maximum)

then i realise it is related on seeds n peers (seed+peers=leechers???)
so any budy tell me how to choose torrents for maximum..should i check seeds or peers??
the speed of torrants depends up on what exactly??
coz sumtimes i hv 26000 seed and 56000 peers bt still nt get super fast speed...
    so got confused with tht...
    need ur's help regarding tht...

    Hi,
Seeders are someone who will be having the complete file ie 100%
more the seeders the higher is the availabilty of the file and so the speed.
leechers are someone who will only download the file but will not allow to upload the same.Peers are the one who are similar to you who will be doing both downloading and uploading as well...different peers will be having different parts of the file...you will also get the data from them.
Your torrent speed depends on the number of seeders...

speed also depends on how seeders are seeding.e.g.10 seeders seeding at a rate of 10KBps each will be slower than 2 seeders seeding at 100KBps each.generally though you should try those torrents which have more no. of seeders or about same no.of seeders & peers.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

You cannot know the number of seeders/peers/leacher before starting download. In any case they are dynamic and their numbers constantly change over a period of time.

oh yes you can know the no. of seeders and peers almost every site states/shows it clearly though its not accurate but it gives a rough idea

Well you've definitely got the right plan for downloading torrents. I was using Bit Comet for a long time but finally changed to Utorrent which is preferred in a number of forums and sites .. its light and resource friendly.
I had 500 C + but changed to the 750 UL + plan cause I din;t have to schedule my DLs etc.
Its my experience that DL speeds depend on
    1. Obviously BSNL
    2. No. of seeders and leechers
    3. Site(s) i.e whether it is a private tracker or public tracker. Private trackers (usually members only sites) generally give better speeds.
    4. Configuration .. which I have no clue about ...

That is exactly my point. I once started a torrent which stated on Mininova as 7 seeds/ 12 leachers or something like that. When I started the actual torrent, I actually received 15 seeds and 35 leachers.

The point is one should not really bother about that. Start the torrent and if you are not getting enough seeds try an alternate tracker. The thumb rule is:

    • old stuff (movies, software, games) = low seeds
    • new stuff = high seeds

Probably just for our mental satisfaction. Even if they do work I think that they'll probably be frowned upon by the torrents community in general .. as the general idea is to 'spread the love' .. he he
