you need to open ports in your firewall & do port forwarding in modem setting if your modem is in pppoe mode(in which you get connected by just turning on the modem).just search for port forwarding in the forums.there are a lot of topics about this.

If you are connected via a network hub to the rauter then you need to enter the Domain name server address, but if you are directly connected to the rauter then leave the DNS blank. it will work.

    Hi,

I think BSNL connection comes with a static IP address only. For those who want to perform port forwarding for UTorrent this might help.

For setting up Static IP address for Win XP OS:

PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

Those who are using Huawei modems, choose your model type in this list :

PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

On choosing the model type another list of programs appear. In that list select UTorrent for port forwarding in UTorrent. This procedure for configuring is quite simple and easy.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Guys, this is not correct.

@vladmirov, BSNL IP addresses are dynamic by default. Only high end business plans are available with static IP.

@All, Guys you must understand what port forwarding is.

In simple layman's terms: Port fowarding is like opening the main entrance to your apartment/flat/house to authorized personnel. Port forwarding is something you do on your own internal network.

What you need to know is this:

IP Address: this is the local IP address of your computer that is given by your router (not by BSNL or any other ISP). Normally this would be anything like 192.168.1.xxx.
Port Number or range: This is port which will be listening to all outside connections. The torrent client will be able to select any port from 1025 to 65535. Some (online) games use specific ports. You must choose a port in the torrent client.

No other information is required. BTW,

DNS: This is not the BSNL or open DNS but the IP address of your own modem/router (usually 192.168.1.1). But this information is not required for port forwarding but is required for setting a private and static IP address to your own PC.

Please read this article: http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...ing-guide.html (Torrents and Port Forwarding Guide)
