type 2 modem has 1 LAN/ethernet port only while type 4 has 4 LAN ports.all else is same so my suggestion is go for type 4 modem as it will provide you with more connectivity options in future.also if you decide to buy type 4 modem 1 thing you must know is that siemens sl2_141 type 4 modem does not have a reset switch like other modems & if you forgot the modem's username/password you won't be able to do anything.make sure that whatever modem you buy must come with a reset switch.reset switch is usually a small hole in which you insert a pin to press the reset button.

@ Whitestar_999
It is clearly written on the modem that my modem is Siemens SL2_141 (Also Dataone is written) But Nokia is not mentioned any where in my modem and even in the (Cartoon BoxProvided with it). The next thing is that I have seen Nokia Siemens Sl2_141. which is exactly same in looks but Nokia is mentioned on the modem box. And regarding reset button. If you see the lower surface of the modem (Facing the LED toword you) then you will find one 'o' hole at the lower left corner of the lower side of the modem. (But reset is not written there) among the squire or rectangular hole. that very particular 'o' hole will serve the purpose for your reset button, if you press it using a pin for 3 second with a switch on condition. This way my purpose was served two time. Actually bro I was in problem as I switched of the DHCP server in the modem and thus my PC got an horrible IP, and that is why I vould not even login to my modem. then I asked a BSNl guy (who is my friend) he told me the source for reset button. But one important thing is that reset is not mentioned (Written) there.
