    Exclamation Firefox works.IE/ Picasa doesn't. Limited or no connectivity error!

    Hi Gurus, please help me fix this.
    I have a BSNL Dataone broadband Home500 connection which has been working fine for me for 2 yrs. But now I can't connect IE6/7/8 beta through it, however firefox works just fine. I have one connection with name BSNL Dataone under Broadband in Network connections. I find one more connection called Local Area connection under LAN or High-Speed Internet which tries to acquire address but fails invariably giving Status: Limited or no connectivity (along with the yellow exclamation triangle icon at the task bar).
    Firefox seems to use the 'Broadband' whereas IE apparently tries to use the erroneous one. How is this possible?
    Skype works. But Picasa fails to connect to net as well while trying to sign-in for Email upload.
    Please help me get rid of this.
    Details:
    =====
    OS: Win XP SP3 (the problem had started appearing even before I upgraded to SP3).
    Network adapter: Realtek RTL8139/810X Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC

    TCP/IP setting is set up to assign IP automatically. Tried giving DNS, but failed too.

    tried uninstalling the network adaptor driver and rebooting the machine,but to no avail.

    in IE--->tools--->internet options--->connections settings check that nothing is selected in LAN settings & that you must see your dial up connection name in dial up & VPN settings & if it is not there add it & also tick the option"always dial my default connection".also in your network connection settings select bsnl dataone as default.

    this solution is assuming you use bridge mode in which you use windows to connect to net.

    Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
    Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

    did you try the solution i suggested in my previous post?seems like you have mistakenly set IE to use some other network instead of dialup bsnl connection.firfox by default automatically detects the settings if you have make your dial up connection default.
