Rep Power: 0 | Dear friends, I am from Kerala. I was using Tata Indicom Broadband with the following modem in Tamil Nadu. Now I want to use this modem on BSNL broadband in Kerala. Details are given below... I need to know how to configure my computer, TCP/IP, modem and anything else to use this modem on BSNL Broadband. I am NOT exposed to computer networking but I can do it well, if I am getting good instructions ! I DON'T have BSNL broadband at the moment but will get it in a few days. I am afraid, BSNL people won't provide any technical assistance with this as I am not using their modem and I may have to install everything myself... Worries ahead ! Modem Details ------------- XAVi Technologies Corporation Model No : X8821r+ On entering IP 192.168.1.1 on my IE, I got login screen and I gave admin as both username and password. I got a page with title "GS8100 Configuration Manager UGI" which has 7 tabs as follows... Home, LAN, WAN, Bridging, Routing, Services, Admin The initial screen in on the Home tab which has the following links Home | System Mode | Quick Configuration I am now in the system view (initial page) page. Think I must go to the Quick Configuration page now. It says as follows. ---------------------------- Quick Configuration Use this page to quickly configure the system. ATM Interface : [0] (Dropdown menu with values 0 - 7) Operation Mode : [Disabled] (Dropdown menu with values Disabled, Enabled) Encapsulation : [None] (Dropdown menu with values PPPoA - VC Mux, PPPoA LCC, PPPoE VC - Mux, PPPoE LCC, 1843 Routed IP - VC Mux, 1843 Routed IP - LCC, 1843 Routed IP - LCC (1577), 1843 Bridged IP - VC Mux, 1843 Bridged IP - LCC, None) # Note : All values except the DNS fields are disabled unless I choose any of these values # for Encapsulation VPI : 0 (Textbox) VCI : 0 (Textbox) Bridge : [Disabled] (Dropdown menu. Use the following IP address IP Address : 192.168.1.2 Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 Default gateway : 192.168.1.1 Use the following DNS server addresses Preferred DNS server : Blank (I don't know what to fill) alternate DNS server : Blank (I don't know what to fill) ipconfig /all command produced the following results. ------------------ Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : shivam Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : VIA Compatable Fast Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-12-E3-55-12-A7 Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 ------------------ # NOTE : I modified the original Physical Address for security purpose. Now, with these information, can you help me to configure my XAVi X8821r+ modem to use on BSNL Broadband at Pathanamthitta District of Kerala State, South India? The detailed settings on the modem configuration page (http://192.168.1.1/) is too confusing for me. Please be descriptive, if possible. Thanks a lot for your valuable time. Rep Power: 2 | ok.. in your vpi/vci page.. create a new vpi/vci set the vpi value to 0 and the vci value to 35 .. then set this vpi/vci to pppoe mode. and enter your bsnl userid and password there.. save/reboot your modem and you should be good to go!!

For the convenience of downloading during the night unlimited hours (2 a.m. to 8 a.m.), I want to change the bridge setting of my modem to PPPoE. The most pitiful thing is I am unable to find the method to do this for the model of the modem what I have. So I kindly request you to guide me or atleast inform me where I can find the method tho change the setting. Modem Manufacturer : SemIndia Modem Model : DNA-A201BE THANK YOU |

Rep Power: 5 | Vista drivers are not available. Connect via LAN cable (RJ45) - no drivers required. |
