    Default disconnection problum

hey guys.. i am having some disconnection problums.. the DSL indicator is blinking and net disconnects .. happening from today.. actually i dont know if its because i reset my router today or bcos of the storm that hit us here. i think its probably bcos of storm.. someone told me to check for attenuations... i found the data in the modem but actually i dont know what these values mean but maybe you could tell me .. i cant interpret these figures.. can some1 tell me if these are ok or not?? should i call bsnl ppl to check for noise ?

what should be the optimum values for SNR and Attenuation values?? are mine ok?
here is the screenshot of my modem

The SNR should be more than 10, so far my knowledge concern. and yours one is 33.7 Down and 18.1 UP.

open the router and if u see that option in ur router ticked then untick that option... cos it automatically makes ur connection disconnect.. was happening to me!!

no.. dude i cant c the option .. but i doubt thats the case.. bcos my net disconnects while surfing.. not when its idle.. and i can see the DSL (yellow indicator) blinking.. thats y im suspecting the problum// if the net was disconnected then DSL light shold be solid all along.. isnt it?? it should not blink// ??
also my download speed is varying greatly.. sometimes its as high as 1680kbps.. sometimes its 415kbps.. and most of times its 700kbps// are these speeds normal btw?? in home 500 plan? with 2mbps bandwidth alloted ??

change mode to G.dmt instead of ADSL2.it should be in connection settings where there should be some option like operation mode.change it to G.dmt from ADSL2.

guys.. i am still having the same problums..
actually my broadband was activated yesterday.. i thought it was working fine untill yesterday.. but mostly i was tryin to setup DHCP so i didnt care that much about other things.. now i am almost sure that the broadband is behaving like this from day one..
this is the pic of its self diagnosis..

and whitestar dude.. check this out. i think all the options are enabled..
    advice what to do..??
i am going to call in the exchange tomorrow.. and complaint about this.
also .. when i log in to www.bbservice.bsnl.in .. firstly it opens after a lot of delay and then when i enter my user name and password it shows wrong username and password?? i hav almost tried all the links that ask username and password but wasnt sucessfull for logging in in even one box.. do i need some other username and password to login.. and also one more thing.. when the dsl indicator is blinking (while surfing)... i am not logged out.. and the frequency is too much .. happens thrice or more in half an hour... and when the dsl again becomes solid i am able to continue my surfing simply by hitting the refresh button.

only check G.dmt & uncheck all other options then click apply.it will take some time & then see if some improvement is present.also restart modem after some time to again test.

bsnl uses G.dmt & all bsnl provided modems come with G.dmt as default.

yep conformed.. the connection is stable now.. though when my modem came it was configured to use adsl2+ as i remember correctly seeing that in my adsl status page and also all other snapshots of other users conform the same.. btw i can c that the top limits of G.DMT are capped to 12mbps.. wud that make a difference compared to adsl havin caps at 24 ?? in my actual connection speed??

don't worry about speeds.i don't think bsnl is going to reach 12 mbps in next 5 years.actual speed provided by bsnl now is 2mbps & at most it may be increased to 8mbps in 2-3 years.

click on this link in your modem for advanced overview---
    http://192.168.1.1/webconfig/status/...l?pagetype=adv
you will see connected standard as G.dmt.i have this same modem & by default all siemens bsnl provided modems have G.dmt as default.

    In my modem
    there are the settings
    Internet Connection
    DSL Status true
    Last Failed 0x00000019
    Downstream Data Rate 8186700
    Upstream Data Rate 508900
    SNR (Downstream) 22.0 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 26.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 30.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 16.0 dB
    Connected Standard BisPlus

If I change d settings to G.Dmt , any improvements will b there? Check my other readings also.

if everything is running fine then no need to change.bisplus is also a standard of G.dmt.

ok.. after a day of use now i can say for sure that the problum is resolved.. i am now getting good speeds .. though one thing my SNR has dropped from 33.7 to 29.6 (download) .. though i am happy .. so this goes out for any one out there having similar problums . please try whitestars remedy if ur experiencing frequent diconnection problums.. and if u find it usefull .. do drop him a note of thanks.
