    Default WA3002-G4 router issue

Hi, I earlier had a G1 router from BSNL which worked fine for about a month. One day it stopped working and BSNL replaced it with a WA3002-G4. However, they did not do the re-installation. It never worked. Also, this router is not accessible by 192.168.1.1 ip so that I can troubleshoot further. I am not sure if they have given a used/second-hand router whose ip has been changed. Does anyone know how to check and change/access this router. Also I could not find the user guide for this model. Thanks !

When you connect your modem and computer, what IP is leased to your computer?
can you paste the ipconfig /all command details?

actually, i am away from home right now. will do that asap and upload screenshot. Earlier on, I had read that if you select 'obtain ip dynamically' the router may not access. So I gave static ip as 192.168.100.149 to my pc and tried. it didn't work either. Will paste the screenshot asap.

static IP must be in same range as that of modem hme page.so if your modem home page is 192.168.1.1 your IP must be something like 192.168.1.4 for example.also subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 by default.

You can reset the modem to factory settings by pressing the RESET switch at the back. While the modem is powered, using a blunt pointed object such as a matchstick, keep the RESET button pressed for 20 seconds or more. The modem will be reset and all settings will be lost. You can then reconfigure it.

Here is a link: WA3002-g1 ADSL MODEM (Type-II) MENU

The link discussed the G1 model but most likely it is not much different from the G4 model.

Also, it is not necessary to assign static IP addresses to your PC's LAN card unless you want to do port forwarding. As whitestar_999 said, the static IP must be in the subnet range of the modem.

Thanks for the updates.. I had tried looking for the reset button but surprisingly I did not find it. All it has is 4 LAN ports, ADSL port and power on-off switch.

look carefully.the reset button might be hidden by some sticker/panel etc or it may be inside some other hole.

Finally, I am able to connect to router page by changing the ip to 192.168.1.2
It says 'LAN is now connected'-100mbps, the wireless also says it is connected.Still it is not connecting to the net.
I wanted to upload few router page screenshots but don't see a link here to select that from my pc.
    In 'WAN Info' it shows following: Category=UBR, Interface=ppp_0_35_1, Protocol=PPPoE, Igmp=Disabled, QoS=Disabled, State=Enabled, Status=Authentication Failure, IP Address=blank.
In the LAN Setup: IP Address=192.168.1.1, SubnetMask=255.255.255.0, Enable IGMP is unchecked, Standard mode selected, Enable DHCP server selected, Start ip address 192.168.1.2 End ip address 192.168.1.254, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, Leased Time 24 hrs.
Please let me know if any other info. is required. Thanks much !!

    Status=Authentication Failure
this means something is wrong with your bsnl username/password you entered in modem.enter your bsnl username without @dataone.in

to upload your screenshot use some free image hosting site like imageshack.upload your image & post the link of the image here.you will get many links because some are for thumbnails while others will post your full image righr here(hotlinks for forums(1) link).

also take a look here for instructions for configuring modems---

Ok. Actually I don't have a separate modem as such. All I have is this wireless router. So can you tell which places I can enter/store my username/password.

what you are calling router is actually a modem+wifi router.go to link i gave in my previous post & read instructions for WA3002-g1 which should be very similar to your modem.
