Default DATAONE – Great service from BSNL

We have recently connected DATAONE Broad band service for Internet provided by BSNL. We have upgraded many software already loaded and downloaded other useful information. Though, at times, it data transfer speed is low but in overall the service so far has been good.

I think, for Rs.250/500 per month, this is very good service being provided by a Govt. organization, which is otherwise often blamed for poor/inefficient services. By providing the service at lower rate, it has not only fulfilled the objective of providing Internet service to still further larger section of the people, but has also forced other players in the field to cut down the rates for similar service. This will no doubt bring the immense knowledge/entertainment to the people at affordable price.

I hope, BSNL will not only continue to maintain the service but will also bring further new features to the service at still lower rates.

    Angry Bsnl broadband service

After a long waiting period I finally got the BSNL Broadband connection on 14th June, 2008. I was under the Home-250 Plan where there is free usage upto 1 GB. Considering my usage I thought of changing the plan to Home-UL750 w.e.f 1.7.2008 where there is unlimited usage with a fixed monthly charge of Rs. 750/-. As soon as the plan got changed the speed of the Broadband also came down to 15-20 kbps from 220 kbps. I could hardly work on the internet with such a slower speed and then I realised how BSNL is cheating the customers by such offers. I again changed my plan to Home-250 w.e.f. 1.08.2008. Few days back, I was shocked to get a broadband bill from BSNL for Rs. 5,500.00 with a covering letter that inadvertantly they could not raise the bills for the month of January to June and hence the entire amount was put together with August Bill. I am really surprised how BSNL with such a wide network can commit such mistakes and why their customers are harassed so much ?

I am sorry that I do not agree with you. There is no question of cheating on part of BSNL. It is you who did not understand the plans properly and you did not go through the FAQ clearly. You also probably think that kbps and kBps are same. They are not. I have found that BSNL is most transparent when it comes to their tariff and offers. They give what they promise. Apologies for sounding blunt but sometimes truth hurts.

Here you are right. This is a case of billing issue but it can be easily rectified. It is a computer generated mistake and you need to make a complaint about the same stating that you never had a BB connection in Jan, 08 and your connection started in June, 08. Your complaint will be redressed without problem. If not, you can go to consumer court for inadvertant and false billing.

Finally, one word of advice. Home 250 is a plan of good choice.

    1. It's usage limit is 1 GB only and will get consumeed very fast.
    2. It does not offer free night usage (2 AM to 8 AM).
    3. It does not offer waiver of fixed landline rent.

If you spell out your internet requirements clearly, all of us can advise you a suitable plan.

well just wanted to say they also normally issue u a statement on the same day that u apply for the connection like they did for me... so all u have to do is go to bsnl commercial officer of the bsnl city echange and show him the paper which states the date u applied for a BB connection.

I wont say that BSNL offers the best service. But BSNL is definitely the leading broadband ISP in India. I'm sure they will make their infrastructure better but since its a govt. undertaken organization it will take time. Oustside of our country BB is cheaper.

I've been using Dataone for three years now. I've had problems in the past but it works fine over all.

Most of the BSNL works well. I am well satisfied with their service. I have BSNL home 500. If they improve their customercare personnel, they will go places.

bsnl has a really good service.. but when you face a problem like say phone disconnection which is what happens most of the time.. then they take a LOT OF TIME to fix it...
