    Arrow Help on 500c+

Well, I have recently changed to the 500c+ plan which includes 2.5 GB upload/Download limit and also the Night Unlimited 2-8 Hrs. Now, I have certain conditions and doubts. They are

Condition 1: If I start the computer at exactly 2.30 pm (I want to be on the safer side since I exactly don’t know when the BSNL guys timer hits 2am which is when the happy hours start) and shut the modem and the computer at 4.30 am. And again I restart the computer and modem for a reason at 5 am and then again switch off the computer and the modem at 7.30 am. Will whatever I had downloaded or uploaded in this time period or rather two time periods ( which is from 2.30am to 4.30am and 5 am to 7.30 am) be charged or will it be under the Free usage time of 2-8 am?????

Condition 2: Now for another condition, Suppose I start my modem and computer at 2.30 am and shutdown down the computer at 7.30 but forget somehow I forgot to shut off the modem. Will I be charged for all my downloads if the modem is not switched off ,Even if the computer is switched off or in hibernate mode before 8am.?????? ( in other manner. I am asking if the modem is on like from 2-10am but I turned off the computer at exactly 7.30 am but kept the modem on until 10 am, will I be charged for the usage or it comes under free usage, practically if the computer is off, no data is uploaded or downloaded even if the modem is off. Please answer this silly question).

Doubt 1: Can I continuously use the internet at various time periods but between 2-8 am. I mean to say , if I browse for 1 hr and then off , again I comeback and use for half- an hour. Then again comeback for 1 hr, giving breaks of 15 min or so between the times I have used the internet but off everything before 8 am, will it come under the happy hours or charged limit(2.5gb)

Please I hope you have read the conditions and doubts properly and understood them, also read what I have said in the brackets and don’t skip any thing. I am asking these questions only to satisfy myself and I don’t get huge bills at the end of the month, I have many friends who got huge bills because they were careless while using 500c+ plan. Please admin and Night plan users help me out on this!!!!! Thanks

    Hi! relton.

I want to tell you that i am using this BSNL 500 plan for around a year. So regarding your querys.

    1. No. It will not be charged. It will be credited in your free usage.

    2. Again no you will not be charged as you said you have disconnected your internet from pc and only modem is on. There are no charges for keeping your modem on. Mine remains on whole day and night.

Doubt:- in night free time from 2am to 8am you will not be charged no matter how many times you connect or disconnect. I am using my connection for around a year and never ever my bill have exceeded rs696. And every month my usage goes above 120gb.

And i want to tell you that my pc connects to internet at 2:01 A.M. itself and download the stuff by utorrent and then again disconnects itself at 7:59 A.M. And this was made possible with the software Dataone Quick Usage Finder. I do not wake up in morning 2:00 A.M. to start downloads. I queue downloads in the day time and my pc keeps running whole day and night so it does its job itself and also i do not turn my modem off.

to be safe it's better to restart modem at 2:05AM & 7:55AM if you are using pppoe mode(in which you get connected by just turning on the modem without using windows/computer like in bridge mode).i don't know if BSNL has improved their billing system because i use bridge mode & use batch scripts to automatically disconnect/reconnect at these times.bsnl now uses 30 min slots for calculating data transfer so,say,if your modem is on whole day/night then your 2-8AM usage will be counted in free but suppose your modem starts/get connected at 1:45AM then your usage from 1:45-2:15AM will be counted as billable.also it's bsnl we are talking about so it's better to restart modem at these 2 times just to be sure because even though many users said no need to worry but what if you are one of those unlucky customers who got extra bill because of this.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Yaar there is no such thing i have been using bsnl 500 for a year.

M also using in Bridge mode.

But yes if you connect before 2 am then you will be billed for usage as if your total usage in that particular connection divided by total time you used that connection and then multiplied by the non free time you used it.

For example say you connected at 1:45am and disconnected at 8:00am and say u downloaded and uploaded a total of 6 gb and say ur download started at 2 aM only i.e u did not used the download slot for 15 min period between 1:45 to 2:00.... Then your bill will be {6gb/22500(no.of seconds you remain connected)}*900(no.of seconds your usage was not free).

    I hope you get it.

suppose your modem starts/get connected at 1:45AM then your usage from 1:45-2:15AM will be counted as billable
that's what i said too.i never said you will be charged for whole 2-8AM time & also your method of calculating usage is old & i don't think bsnl use it anymore.1 user here clearly reported alongwith the screenshots that his usage from 1:45-2:10AM was all billed & this entry was present in day time usage not night time usage.for your information BSNL now calculate bill solely on entries shown in day time usage & any entry like 1:45-2:15AM will show in day time usage & you have to pay for all of the usage for this entry.

it seems like that way.for new users like myself bill is based only on entries shown in day time & night time separately & if an entry shows up in day time even if it is like 1:55-2:10AM it will be billed whole.
