I have just gone through this link... thats interesting...

More than 85 per cent of the available addresses have already been allocated and the rest will run out by 2011, according to a prediction by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

that is why IPv6 is introduced in VISTA.it should be more than enough for allocating IP addresses.as for costs adopting new technology always cost.

moreover IPV6 has inbuilt security features, there is no need to go for seperate security protocols like IPSec and it has lot more additional advantages.

IPv6 has huge number of IP pool
you can have an IP for every square meter of the earth
So no more crunch of IP for few years
