hi whyzee

i m new in this forum but have a good knowledge of Linux Ubuntu as i m using it from last more than 18 months.. linux is far much better than Windows OS..
theer are lot many good options available in ununtu as great graphics and crystal clear sound... and on the top of its a good thing for network hacking

if you want more info about ubuntu then you can go to our website: Ubuntu Home Page | Ubuntu
to download ubuntu go to Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu

and for more support you can go to Ubuntu Forums

and if you need ubuntu disc you can contact me at smoothvibes84@live.com

windows is a must if you are a gamer or extensively use softwares like photoshop for professional work.linux is good in terms of security, stability etc.my suggestion is install both & use them & then decide if you can live without windows.

@smoothvibes,it's not the OS but a person's own knowledge & security level of target networks which enables network hacking.a talented hacker can easily hack your linux system using a windows system.

For home use and easy troubleshooting, better go for Windows.

if you are looking for ubuntu.. then go for ubuntu desktop 8.04 .. its the latest version.. called hardy heron..
it all depends on your use and wish.. its very much possible to stay secure in a windows environment. you have to have ur antivirus, firewall etc up to date.. be careful, dont visit unwanted sites, dont open unknown files, attachments etc. if you are using linux, then you dont quite have to worry about opening a file infected with virus!!!

Nah i still say windows is the easiest and most preferred software for any beginner and any person who really doesnt wish to learn the OS. thats my opinion. i found ubuntu 8.0.4 to be pretty irritating.there are a whole lot of softwares which are not compatible especially when it comes to media and entertainment or games.

So for me Windows wil always be in.

In my opinion Linux is good. Why?? Linux is freeware and Windows are not free. You have to spend 6-7 thousand if you want to use a legit version of window. And the software are upgrading day by day. today you are using Windows XP SP2 worth Rs 6600/- and Vista is there. Will you go for another 6 or 7 thousand?

Smile Ubuntu

hi whyzee7

ubuntu 8.04 is the latest version of ubuntu and its a good one to use.. you need not to go for any torrent just go to Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu and you can download it.

@whitestar_999: i know its just not only OS, its users knowledge too but still you can not rule out the truth that ubuntu is far much better OS than windows as
first thing all the stupid virus can not attack
second you can open infected file on ubuntu which you can not open on windows
third its open source totally free of cost
4th you can get all software in updates
5th you get a new version after every six months (more stable version totally free) which keeps you alive and gives you something new to check and learn
6th you have such a nice ubuntu forum where you can get all the updates and fixes
7th ubuntu delivers you free CD's for your home use and for all educational purpose (which windows never sends)
7th as the name suggest ubuntu "humanity to others"

bro are these points enough for a person who is not techie...

cheers again
aadi

i understand all these reasons are there but i mean look at the amount of softwarez available out there for dvd vcd audio games and transformation... i barely see so many compatible softwares.

if one is willing to teach me everything that i can learn in one day as i did with windows and its softwares, then i will agree that ubuntu is for evryones desktop.

Linux is for geeks and Windows is for common folks.

Lack of (killer) applications on Linux does not make it attractive for the common folks.

Personally, my vote goes TO Windows-XP/Pro.

Please define a killer application. For example MS-Excel and MS-Powerpoint are killer applications. Killer applications take the OS to a new and totally different stratospheric level.

If Linux/Ubuntu have killer applications I have not heard of any. Please name 5.

Windows is more flexible for a common man. But in corporate sector I think servers are being migrated to Linux platform in a full pace due to security reasons. If Iam not wrong, Red Hat is the leading player.
