The biggest demerit of the Home 500 C plan is that to use free night time, you need to reset the modem after 2 AM and once again before 8 AM.

The problem is BSNL does not count night free time automatically. If you started a big download, say at 11 PM and it completed at 4 AM then entire 11 PM to 4 AM is counted as non-free usage.

So one must make sure that modem is reset or restarted after 2 AM and before 8 AM. It is wise to do this at 2:05 AM and again at 7:55 AM just to rule out any time mismatch between your clock and BSNL's clock.

There are many options to automate this task. Search the forum for so many threads that are tell you how.

People can go to consumer court against the cheating of BSNL coz no where they have published the terms and conditions of unlimited usage between 2-8 AM.
last month accidentally I've extended my usage upto 0805 AM (from 0640 to 0805 AM ) but in usage portal it is shown as free usage. Will they charge for this usage? Waiting for next month BILL.

what if i start my system by 11 PM and in the flashget i set option for start download by 2:10AM and stop by 7:50AM,

since i started my computer by 11PM, even if it starts to download after 2:05 would BSNL not take is as unlimited time?

what else to automate this process< is it enough if the system is restarted by 2:05 or the modem too should be restarted by switching on and off the power?

any software to do this? i wont be at home at nights, so i need an automated process

how do you connect to the internet as of now,
    1) you switch on your modem and the internet works?
    OR
    2) You use a windows dialer to dial a connection to the internet?

    which modem do you have?

    Default schedule the connection

use "bridge mode" in the modem and an appropriate scheduler t0 start CONNECTION @ 2:05 AM, disconnect at 755 AM. no need of "auto poweron/power off" and all that crap. you can just run all the programs you want. and later the scheduler software will take care of the connection. no need for you conect manually.

as for PPPoE connections, u BETTER restart modem @ 2AM!

one simple such software is DataOne Quick usage finder(DQUF) available at Dataone Quick Usage Finder | sunish.net . i've been using it for months and not even a single problem till now !

    cheers.

there are no demerits except the BANDWIDTH LIMITATION...
i mean whos gonna give 2mbps for 500Rs ? and 175 calls ? no private operator can operate at such costs.

and little care to be taken when u start downloads @ 2-8. everything has to be scheduled to a CLOCK or things may go haywire.
