    Default Problem using WiFi.

I have ZTE ZXDSL531B wifi modem with which I have connected my desktop with. In the network settings I have enabled static IP and Subnet Mask while all other values are left blank. I have been accessing internet with these settings for months. Now I wanted to connected my laptop to this network using wifi but my laptop shows the connection as "secured". I tried to go to ADSL's web-management page to check security but was unable to as neither 192.168.1.1 nor 192.168.100.100 (as suggested by ZTE manual) were able to open the page. I kept on getting the message "Unable to open web page". What should I do?

you need to go to the web managment page
which is generally 192.168.1.1 unless if you have changed it

    do you remember changing it?

else you can perform a reset on the router which will bring the router to the factory config which should be 192.168.1.1

I have never changed the default IP. The modem has been same as what BSNL had provided. I thought of going for "Reset" but thought that it might also change some settings made by BSNL. It will then make the modem totally useless.

Try to ping the IP 192.168.1.1. post the result here. then and only then your diagnosis can be done.

your LAN is gettting IP 192.168.0.42.with this IP range you can't access any IP like 192.168.1.x because it's in a different range.in your LAN TCP/IP settings set IP address as 192.168.1.4 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 & DNS automatic.

Try to configure mannually the Ip address as 192.168.1.4 as said by whitestar and then try to get the IP. As you mentioned that you have mannualy configure the IP. and The suppied IP is wrong for the rauter. that is why you are not getting the page.

Thanx guys. The problem is solved through your suggested methods. I wonder why BSNL guys gave 192.168.0.X as the static IP address in the first place!!

you where actually in another subnet of your modem and gateway
You gate way was 1.1 and you where in 0.1 so there was no way your NIC could communicate to the gateway or the modem
