    I had least problems installing dataone. they had come to my office where I signed up for the connection. in less than a week they installed (I already had BSNL landline) and didnt accept tips.
    and what speed! better than many cyber cafes and sometimes better than my office and my (ex) universities. Performing online speed tests have never yielded results less than 250kbps so far. Till date I have had no problems. once I interchanged the splitter output lines by mistake and didnt realize that the two outputs (one to phone, other to modem/router) are not equivalent and had to call a personnel from BSNL office. he came on the same day and rectified the problem and we had a good laugh over it. the ladies at the BSNL office in whitefield bangalore were most helpful when I changed my plan from home 500 (1Gb) to home 250 (400mb) as that is enuf for my purpose and the change of plan took less than 5 minutes. i use abt 10 mb (max) per day so 300 mb is max use for me. I come back from work and check and write some personal mails, check news, play checkers over the net, chat once in while with friends, google and browse sometimes. I suppose if u download movies or music, ur flow will increase then home 500 or higher plan might be better. the ladies at BSNL office has promised that if I ever want to upgrade, it will take me less than 5 mins again!! frankly I am really surprised how efficiently some sarkari outfits are doing business these days.

    Angry I don't believe what you say. Wait till you have a problem. It'll take 5 years to sol

    Bsnl employees are **** and **** (intentionally missspelt). My connection has been intermittent for months and any complaint I make is automatically set to resolved and I have to make new complaints every time. How do they get the freaking blls to reset a complaint docket with solving the problem? Bunch of irresponsible ****!

    i guess it depends where u are. BSNL service in bangalore is quite good, at least in my area. and fortunately, if and when the lines or modem conked out, I only had a downtime of 1 or 2 days before things got fixed.

    I have heard nightmare stories of BSNL in other areas though.

    In my city (Bulandshahr) whenevr i face problem just dial 1957 and tell them if this problem from their office end they usually make me call after sort out for confirmation is it solved or not ?

    In Kolkata the BSNL service are very good. Good Customercare and the SDE and DE are very helpful person.

    In my place they score 50 out of 100. They will repair the fault but after a few days.

    I had to give tips as 200 rs for installation of new landline, as recently shifted to chennai, iinitially was against giving tips and planning to go to vigilance department, but then my mom told me to give , so had to give, i hate ppl who ask bribe ;-(

    I am not understanding why are you blaming for this only to BSNL ppl?? Don't you think WE also involve in this system.WE give so THEY take.

    hehe, yeah, a bit like that pretentious Tata Tea ad that says "jaago re" x10. i kinda like that ad, though.
