    it's a known fact & your entries will definitely prove this to other users that connecting even 1 second before free time is costly.

    But if you extend the usage upto 0815 AM (as per my experience) it will be considered as free usage
    ie a download started at 0750 AM and finished at 0815 AM is treated as free usage.

    U can approach consumer court because BSNL has never published the terms and conditions of night free usage anywhere .
    Are u willing to bell the cat?

    I dont think bsnl can be blamed... not siding with them, and true they may have not published it in detail regarding this but when one says 2 am - 8 am, they mean 2 and not 1.59.58 and all timings posted here by harsh are 1-10 minutes earlier login.

    these companies arent so foolish when it comes to making money.
    therefore be it me or anyone i think we shud all also interrogate and investigate the hidden matters when it comes to broadband. bcos as far as i know these guys are like banks. if u dont question, they wont answer and even if they do answer, expect the convo to deviate from the topic when they tell u anything.

    therefore my advice is be very firm and listen to nothing else apart from what u want to hear. ie listen only to direct answers when u put direct questions.

    and i read somewhere earlier in this forum that one shud always sign in at 2:10 am to avoid faulty time syncing with bsnl servers and stuff like that.

    and with regards to wat sujith said about not being charged till 8.15 if u have signed in at 7:50...

    i wudnt suggest anyone try that cos knowing these guys, they can do just about anything. so stick with the rules and sign out 10 mins earlier.

    pls correct me if i am wrong anywhere in this matter. Thanks.

    @players_player
    The advertised free usage between 2AM to 8AM means they can not charge for the usage during this period. They can charge for the usage upto 1:59.59 AM and after 07:59.59 hrs. Nowhere they have mentioned the conditions (Website, brouchers, news paper ads , application forms etc) not even put a * mark quoting "conditions applied". Companies can make money but not at the cost of consumer rights. If BSNL is charging for the usage between 2-8AM then it a pure violation of consumer rights. it can be sued.
    Iam dam sure that if any one file a complaint against this with proof , he can win and will get his money back with compensation. "Jago grahak Jaago....." I've very nice experience with consumer courts.

    Iam not a heavy downloader , accidentally a couple of times my usage extended after 0800 AM and it is reflected as free usage at usage details portal. Just Iam sharing this and not advising to do so coz money is yours.

    yup u r correct, it is very confusing for people who r just starting out in bsnl internet.

    i mean take for example in the beginning before visiting this forum i thought that it doesnt matter to sign in before 2 am and sign out before 8 am.i thot that one does not have to pay for usage when it automatically touches 2am... but then i read that u have to sign in manually and that too 5-10 mins later than 2am to avoid being charged. so yes it can actually be taken up bcos this needs to be mentioned by them and not by forums or friends that people have experienced such cases. cos firstly no one shud have experienced such cases of being charged. so how does one take it up?

    one user has similar problem & he successfully get the refund for extra charge because of such entries.though you may have to pay the bill first & refunded extra amount will be adjusted against your future bill.
