Default Need help in some issues for BSNL 500C+

Hi,
I have some problems or you can say confusions which i want to discuss with you people. I request you to please answer my questions as soon as possible.

Modem : Siemens 2110
Connection : PPOE

(1) In the night I uses u torrent for downloading. Most of the time I found very good speed in downloading but i never ever found good speed in uploading even there were good no of leechers. Do i need to go for port forwarding and is port forwarding is possible in this modem
(2) Is Data One night time manager works properly and wether my paswords will remain safe or not using Data One manager
(3) I do not know what is bandwidth and what is use of it please tell me in details.
(4) can someone tell me how much amount is taken by the gtalk software if i become online for half an hour in two cases :
(a) I continously chat with two people
(b) I am only make my self online but during that period no body talks to me
(5) As per as the FAQ on the BSNL Broadband site 1 hr surfing takes 10 MB on an average but i ma amazed that one day 1 hr 20 min surfing took 120 MB even i was surfing on bwtorrent and dctorrent site and even i was little bit faster but stil i think it is much much more counted.

plzzzzz somebody answer my questions.

Thankx

u have 2mb/s[around 250-290KB/S] download speed ,, and 30KB/S upload speed,,

perday u use around 50MB , coz ur monthly limit is only 1.5GB,,

if u use gtalk voice then it takes more data transfer,, see ur network properties for ur data transfer ,,

browsing in a page with more images and other contens[flash movies etc] will cause more data transfer,, its not according to 1hr or a minute,,

what you have to do with uploading as upload speed is always very low compared to download speed as BSNL uses ADSL technology

simply chatting(only textual) eats very less of amount

i think there will be negligible amount of data usage in this case

as for the above it depends on what language is the website is developed like if the site is flash or java based then surely it will eat up your bandwidth and will contribute greatly to your usage count

First of all thankx to you guys for such a fast reply and helping me to sort out my problems. I wanted to know little bit more in my questions. There are some facts which are still not being answered. It will be very good for me if you guys help me little bit more so that I can get my answers. Here is the detailed description :

(1) I also asked is there any method like port forwarding or else which can help me to increase my upload speed in torrents.

(2) Here i am showing some data from the BSNL Account Management Site :

(a)2008-07-08 00:02:30 to 2008-07-08 00:59:32 : DL = 50027 KB
UL = 5101 KB Total = 55128 KB

(b)2008-07-09 0056 to 2008-07-09 0153 : DL = 102398 KB
UL = 7896 KB Total = 110294 KB

Here at these two time durations (a) and (b) i agreed that i was surfing torrent sites like bwt torrent and dc torrent even with opening pages frequently but still i feel 55 MB and 110 MB are much much more than it should be as per the duration for which i surfed.

and in the below

(c) 2008-07-11 16:59:00 to 2008-07-11 1741 : DL = 10709 KB
UL = 945 KB Total = 11654 KB

Here at the time duration (c) i was surfing on normal sites like google etc. and i think the proxy usage shown by BSNL which is 11.5 MB for just 21 minutes is much much high

(3) Here below i show you the data counted by BSNL Account Management Site for Gtalk software working only for type chat, no voice chat at all :

2008-07-11 1855 to 2008-07-11 19:07:12 : DL = 3704 KB
UL = 644 KB Total = 4348 KB

I did his experiment to get an idea how much proxy is used by gtalk in only type (type chat = likhkar chat) chat . In this time interval i was only and only chatting with my two friends and it was type chat not voice chat and no other site or anything was open.

I am really amazed the usage shown by the BSNL Acoount Management. I think it is much much higher than what i was thinking of about gtalk from the very first day i started using Gtalk.

Also I am amazed and afraid how much proxy usage BSNL will count if i go for Voice Chat taking above data as an example shown by BSNL

Also I want to know from you guys is there any other software which can be used instead of gtalk, like skype or anyone else which i can use for type or voice chat with less proxy consumption.

(4) One question i want to ask you as your previous reply :

(a) At this moment i am not using Data One manager and if i do not use it in future still i need to change the password regularly means still there any chance for hacking of my net.

(b) One personal question : Give me your opinion is Data one is safe and
should one use it. I want to ask this question regarding two properties

(1) Is it really work fine technically that is it will not make mistake any time
so that i will be safe to be in free time (2 to 8) that is it never make mistake in starting and disconnecting.

(2) This is regarding how DataOne is regarding security of your computer , password etc.

(c) last question If i use Data One then should i keep changing the password frequently.

Please give me answers as soon as possible as i am really afraid of this BSNL connection

Thankx In Advance
and really Thankx for your fast reply

use DU meter.it's very accurate & using this you can confirm if the fault is with bsnl portal regarding your usage.remember than DU meter readings are about 90-92% of actual bsnl readings.

To answer your first question, port forwarding is the best option to increase your torrent speed. Look at the bottom of your utorrent, if there is a green flag, then it already port forwarded, if it is some other color, then you need to port forward.

also it's not entirely impossible for usage to be this much.windows has an automatic update feature & even if you turn this off there is still an advanced option which reserves certain % of bandwidth to windows which you can access using group policy editor.also many softwares by default have their automatic update option on.the best way to know how much usage is going on is to point/move your mouse pointer over the BSNL icon in system tray(if using bridge mode)or LAN icon(if using pppoe mode in which you get connected by just turning on the modem).you will see a balloon with bytes send & received.1024bytes=1KB,1024KB=1MB.do some simple calculation using windows calculator & you will get an idea.or you can install DUMeter.
