more details please.you dial from windows"connect to"option or you connect using modem interface.the answer to your question about restarting modem depends on this.

this means you are using bridge mode.i too use same mode because in this mode there is no need to restart the modem but you have to only disconnect & reconnect at 2:05AM.you can automate this by using the following method----

    for connect/disconnect use batch files.
paste these lines in notepad & save files as connect.bat & disconnect.bat
    for disconnect.bat--->
    rasdial "bsnl" /disconnect
    for connect
    rasdial "bsnl" ******_***@bsnl.in password
where bsnl is the name of my connection(it depends on what name you give to your connection)
    ******_***@bsnl.in is my username
    password is my password

use windows task scheduler to schedule these .bat files to run at 1:55AM(disconnect) & 2:05AM(connect) then again run disconnect.bat at 7:55AM.
remember to save files as .bat as notepad saves files as .txt by default.when saving files select the file type as all files & then save the file as .bat.bat files are like .exe files & when you double click on them they execute like exe files.you can check your files by double clicking on connect.bat & disconnect.bat to see if they are working.

to use windows task scheduler you must assign a password to your windows account & you should assign a password to your account for security.also assign the same password to administrator account if you are using some other account(but not guest account).type services.msc in run box.you will see a list of windows services.go to "task scheduler"service & make sure it is started & startup type is set to automatic.if not then right click on it & select properties.select startup type as automatic.then click on start.restart computer to check that service starts after login.also click on help & support from start menu & search for windows scheduler to get extra help.

yes!whenever you schedule a task using windows scheduler windows ask for the password of the windows account you are using at that time to check that you are an admin so just enter the same password which you had set up for your windows account.

i am slightly confused at this command line as it didnt work for me

    ******_***@bsnl.in is my username
    password is my password

my username, that i enter in the username field is saesms, i do not use bsnl.in or dataone.in extension, so what else whould i enter

where bsnl is the name of my connection(it depends on what name you give to your connection)
is this following pic, if so should i enter it as " shortcut to bsnl"

just enter your username exactly as you enter in the screen to connect.as for connection name when you are connected move your mouse arrow over the bsnl icon in system tray(where you have your yahoo msgr).don't confuse it with LAN icon.it will look the same but it should have a name bsnl judging by your pic.in my opinion it should be bsnl because a shortcut is not name but it points to a name & in your case"shortcut to bsnl" menas connection name is bsnl.
