I appreciate the thread starts intentions but in my opinion yu are trying to do something which has already been done and your efforts would go to waste unless your script does something in addition to what windows can already do.

but i think that softwarez are more reliable than windows scripts sometimes.

Hey People out there a new addon to DFBA, "Rdownloader v1.0" is to be released on August 1,2008. It will (along with DFBA v1.0) let you download data from web links during free-bandwidth night time.

What is it that you would like to know? The situation is like this:

    • BSNL offers free downloading during 2 AM to 8 AM.
    • Most heavy downloaders would like to use this time for their heavy downloads such as movies, software, etc. from torrents.
    • But to use the free usage time, we must restart/re-establish connection after 2 AM and before 8 AM
    • Obviously staying awake till 2 AM or waking up at that time everyday is not an option
    • There are many methods that can automate this rebooting of the modem so that you are spared of this task

The automation mentioned in this post (and many other posts like this) talk about modem restarting only - not the actual downloading. Packages such as uTorrent have an inbuilt scheduler. Using the automation and uTorrent, all large downloads can be pushed to the 2 AM to 8 AM window.

Err.. Have you cofigured your BIOS to start your computer at 2:00 AM, if yes then you could check if configuration file "configure.txt" being configured correctly or not. As I have come to know you are using XP or earlier (from your screenshot, I may be wrong). The specified fiole will be in "C:\Program Files\RickSoft\DFBA v1.0\" (if windows is on C) or if you use Vista file will be in "C:\Users\'Your User Name'\Documents\RickSoft\DFBA v1.0" (if windows is on C) [Note : Its a hidden folder in Vista)

"neil_x.rated" you could have known if you have read FAQ section on my website that every computer has nearly different BIOS so I will not be able to assist exactly, however, you can view option of "Auto Power" under Power Management option of your BIOS but you can't use advise of "justkix" because my software starts at startup and in case you hibernate and wake your computer startup programs will not run (in my knowledge).

    Talking

"Indranil", please refer this software to help others as well b'coz so much potential of Night free bandwidth isn't being used b'coz of laziness of getting out of the bed at Night, but here is solution DFBA v1.0.

I will be launching DFBA v2.0 in April or May next year with more controls for more type of connections etc.

    Thanks for supporting DFBA.

Sorry for problems faced by all of you while trying to download DFBA but its back. There was some problem with the webserver I was using. As this is a free software and I've no fund support so has to use free servers which sometimes give loads of problems.

So visit RickSoft - Software by Ricky to download DFBA v1.0. I've created version 1.5 too but I need ppl to beta test it first, b'coz I think its buggy
