Please make a written complaint with BSNL.

also in free hours there are more users so it may be possible that if you disconnect during free hours you won't be able to reconnect.better way is to keep the modem always on & do not disconnect during free time.

you can try switching to PPPoE mode and then see whether you are able to connect or not

Faced a near about same problem i.e my speed was reduced from usual 1.6 mbps - 2.0 mbps to 100 kbps - 150 kbps. So I complained at BSNL but as usual they will respond in a week or two.

So I myself decided to do something, so removed the Broadband Connection from network connections, reset the modem cleared IE history and cache, ran Anti virus check and then after rebooting again created my Broadband account and my speed was again increased to 1.6 mbps - 2.0 mbps.

You can try the above procedurea and check if your problem is solved.

678 error code indicate there was no answer. This happens due to bad pppoe layer. I faced this problem many a time but it was recifies by BSNL automatically.
