    Exclamation Torrent dilemma!!!

Hi there, I from INDIA with a dilemma, I am a recent user of torrents, also recently I got my Broadband connection which gives a variation from 32KB/s to 250KB/s line, unlimited download. Although, I get usual speeds of more than 200KB/s, I cannot understand why my torrents speeds are so slow .

First of all, I would like to tell you that I am new to downloading torrents or rather what you would call newbie’s (noob) but I would call myself ignorant .

Now to my problem, Let me explain my first Download procedure, I googled about it and I found a torrent client called Bit-torrent . I had downloaded it, having version 6.0.1. Now, I had long new about Piratebay.org , I found it very nice . I wanted to download a Indian movie called Bhoothnath . I searched for it in pirate bay, and downloaded the torrent file. Following are the transfer details (offline). As, I had told you , I was ignorant , I had made the setting in BT to automatic or default. My download limit was made unlimited and upload was up to 11KB/s

    These are my current settings

Now I don’t know whether you would be worried looking at the above stats?? Now, why I have a dilemma; because when I saw some of the ppl on the forums, they were getting up to 60-100 KB/s on the same kind of broadband service line which I currently use. It was so surprising for me, Then I got the notion that , since it was a Indian movie, so I thought the download of the torrent was slow because of the availability of less number of seeds( I came to know about it through google). Next I got a torrent file for NARNIA 2, since it had got good number of seeds, but in vain, look at the following transfer details.

I don’t understand why this is happening?? With so many seeds for hancock, transformers and forbidden kingdom. Why is downloading so slow?? What am I doing so wrong. Please can someone help me out in this.

P.S Also I use NOD 32 anti-virus, AVG, Avira and Norton. Does any of them affect torrents. Are my ISP or Broadband providers block my torrents??? And lastly, even if I don’t download anything else with the BT client, the speed is still slow!!! Please guide me someone?

I AM NOT ASKING TO HELP ME DOWNLOAD FILES, ONLY TO IMPROVE MY SPEED.

    Sorry for the long post

    hi there

for this problem you can try a different port and which ISP you are using please check if there is any usage cap on your account coz there are some providers who got FUP(Fair Usage Policy)

You need to use a proxy as your ISP is blocking the ports which these tracker sites are using.
I posted this a few days back and I am sure that after using a proxy for the tracker your downloads will be fine again.

Here is the tutorial : http://www.indiabroadband.net/sify-b...broadband.html (Torrents not working on sify broadband)

It doesnt matter which ISP you are using.

Yes as each and every trackes status says not found and I think the only cause I can think of is that bsnl is blocking the ports you are using.

Have you tried turning your firewall off? that might be another reason.. try turning off the fire wall and see if your torrent downloads start working and if not then try using a proxy coz I cant think of any third reason why these tracker status says not found.

    Thanks

Here is a list of proxies you can use :

    217.17.238.21:80
    60.28.196.55:80
    125.76.226.11:80
    89.148.31.33:80
    82.194.53.188:80
    217.17.235.102:80
    82.94.187.199:1080

All of them are working right now and if you have any issues later just pick another one and use it untill it keeps working.

@realton,proxies are not necessary to download torrents if you have a bsnl broadband connection.these proxies are meant for those users whose ISP's block ports at their level itself like sifi.bsnl don't block any ports at their level.

I agree with you. I think BSNL does not block any port.
