Exclamation Sharing Bandwidth across ports

Hi Friends,

If i have a wireless linksys router, with 4 ethernet ports and 2 pc's and one lappy connected to it,is there any way/software by means of which we can limit the sharing of the internet bandwidth across the ports?
Hope you got my point!!

Regards,
Pradeep G

i don't think so.you can either install some bandwidth controlling software on the target computers or you can check in your router settings if there is some option to control bandwidth by applying some filter like IP or MAC address.

I think bandwidth allocation can not be done in an simple personal PC environment. I am also using 2 PC in a single connection and the bandwidth is automatically aloocated to each PC according to my need.

some modems have this option of bandwidth limiting but they are usually expensive.also you can install some software in computers which will limit the upload/download rates of connection.

What he means that if he has a 2 mbps total bandwidth, some machines should not be able to surf at more than, say, 256 kbps.
