Review : I have been using the services of BSNL Home 500 -256kbps plan Feb2005.The connection suffers from speed problems,frequent disconnections (which I myself corrected by installing a patch from net site download.)The average speeds are80-120kbps and of late20-60kbps for past 2months. Speeds have been checked on www.numion.com site under ’’Your Speed’’,also in other sites of Speedometer-google search.Calculations of speed is very easy -just download a net file and multipy the dowload speed x 8. Dept does not yet have a site of its own for speed testing. I am in Hyderabad under Musheerabad exchange and am within 3kms distance of the exchange. Repeated complaints have been made to the JTOs,SDE,AE,DE, and our AM;and also central complaint number16004241600,but to no avail.Letters and faxes with due acknowledgement taken have been sent,but to no avail. The computer at our end is properly maintained ,configured,without any errors and viruses and stands well to required specifications for broadband. The department not only seems to be ill equipped in attending to customer complaints but also highly unprofessional and autocratic.In days of opening up of markets;where other products for same services are available ;BSNL still functions in the style of the Nizam or like any Govt dept-’’apply ,apply no reply.’’ The services main feature is 256kbps speeds,uninterruped;and unfortunately it is not so. They cannot be billing and asking for payment of service which does not at all stand its specification promised.The customer stands cheated and shortchanged.False publication and misdirecting the perception of the public at large calls for legal trouble.We are the public and not any gullible weak individual. The dept should acknowledge and be accountable to all such complaints and refund the deposits and payments made towards a ineffective and inferior product.

What you just said is really sad man! I used to have similar problems with my Airtel too! Changed to Beam now, and so far so good. Actually more than just good. They are brilliant now. Speeds are really good, good customer service, and most of all no downtime. Thankfully! Might want to check them out.
