Hi,
Is there any differnce in speed if I start to use the LAN instead of wi fi in my laptop. In BSNL BB when I connect through wi-fi the icon shows the speed of 54 MBPS whereas in LAN it shows 100 MBPS.Should I switch to LAN for better speed.?

There is no difference in speed until your bandwidth is greater than 54 Mbps
what it means is that the max speed the port can support
generally the max bandwidth we have with the current broadband is about 8 Mbps max, so if you are using 54 Mbps or 100 Mbps and even now 1Gbps nic there is no difference
but some day you have a connection which is 60 Mbps ( say BSNL after 30 years is providing this :47: ) then it would be better if you go for LAN connection as the wi fi will be able to give only 54 Mbps and the rest 6 Mbps will be a waste
Yes!! I agree with the gardencityboy.
New wi-fi routers will arrive by that time that will have speeds matching 1 gbps ... these are already under trial at Linksys.
hmmm seeemmmss like the internet and its players are planning an Open Highway At The Speed Of Data Transmission Already!!
just to add some information fastest net connection in the world is 40gbps & it is in an old women's house whose son has developed & now testing this new high speed data transfer technology.
the person who developed this technology is testing this technology at his mother's home in sweden which i think is the only country in world where in some areas 2gbps connections are available to home users.& the guy is not some small guy but a leading researcher in the field of telecommunications.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
but ofcourse i shud have thought so that it wud be sweden!! the business land!!
CAn anyone through light on "GRID' which is faster then Broadband
GRID is currently only available at CERN & i doubt if it is going to available anytime soon but recently scientist have discovered a way to increase the speeds over optic fibre cables---
