    Default Original IP assigned to me??

    i got my broadband connection a couple of weeks ago, but my ip is shown as 59......

    i did some changes foolishly that i dont remember and i think i screwed with my ip settings, and dns setting, i want to reset everyting back as it was

    how to know the IP originally assigned to me by BSNL?


    please help me out

    d0 you have a static ip??? which setting did u modify lan or bb conn??

    well, i dont know if its a static ip , i am in that 500c+ home plan, i changed my tcp/ip settings i guess sorry for being poor in tehnical, any way to know the ip that was assigned to me, cause its said that new cnnections have IPs starting with 117??

    here is a pic of my present ip settings....






    I Spoke with the bsnl call center they gave me the following IP setting
    192.xxx.x.xx

    255.xxx.xxx.0
    dg = 192.168.1.1
    218.xxx.xxx.1xx
    218.xxx.xxx.4x

    1st u dont have a static ip ok
    now just got to -netwk conn- ur lancard properties-tcp ip stting-obtain ip automatically-
    now create a new bb conn and connect using id pass .thats it

    when i asked the bsnl CC they asked me to enter the ip and the details they gave rather than going for obtain ip address automatically

    preffered DNS server completely differes from what they gave

    first thing........u just cant do anything from chaning the TCP/IP thing from network properties......its for the BSNL server to idetnify u..........what ever u do in the TCP/IP......its not gonna affect ur IP address on the internet....

    as i said reset ur modem....this will erase all of the settings u have saved the modem......then u need to reconfig the whole modem again.......

    the restart the modem & see ur ip again

    if its remain like 59.x.x.x series......then its the default thing BSNL alloted u......u cant do anything with that.

    then u need to reconfig the whole modem again.......
    the issue is i do not know to reconfig

    whitstar i have been following that, but thats completely different to the interface my router has got though the model i chose is the same

    @saesms, The interface may be different but the values are the same. You should map the values to your router's web interface.

    man do did u get here????
    try dis as lan stngs

    ip-192.168.1.11
    sm-255.255.255.0
    dg-192.168.1.1

    try conn

    if u get connected then every thing is fine ...ok
