    Unhappy Internet keeps disconnecting.

Every 5 minutes or so my internet disconnects. Usually only for around 20-30 seconds. but it is really annoying. i have no idea what the problem could be.

do you have any ideas or can think of what i should try?

    thanks

Check your SNR Value.. which should be above 10.

Check the parameters like SNR,occupancy, attn that u r getting and if any of them is higher than plug ur modem straight to the wall socket and check ur parameters again to see if that makes any difference at all...If still the same probably try a different Modem and nothing works then report it to ISP and get it checked as the Port in the exchange might have gone faulty and causing drops..

SNR=signal noise ratio . Go to http://192.168.1.1 .. you should find it somewhere there.. sometimes under Status page

    Hello,

Now if its issue related to your speed then Nothing can be done from your end.

May be they made some changes for your connection to stabilize your connection and your speed is down now.

nah my speed is perfectly normal.
the only problem is that it disconnects all the time.
has been going on for like a week or something.

usually disconnection problem happens when SNR values are too low.your speeds won't be affected but disconnections will occur.

in modem settings look carefully.try overview/status tab etc with basic/advanced view.you should be able to find out.if still no success go through all the tabs.

in status click statistics and then click adsl. you will find snr values . also see what the mode is in that page.
this is for ut200r2u modem(new model).

what is the SNR supposed to be?

The connection comes through my phone line and then goes into my modem and then through a switch and then into my computer.

Im starting to think my modem is dying, yesterday i actually bothered to look at it when it was disconnecting and DSL, Internet and Ethernet lights turn off when it disconnects.

which seems strange cos its not like its lost connecting to ethernet and stuff so it seems more as if my modem is having problems. is that likely?
