    Default Excess billing....

D guys at BSNL r after me again......just 3 months back i paid a bill of about Rs.3500.....though i never d'load anything durin daytime......but still i paid d damn bill.....coz dey had disconnected my line and i had to run around for a whole month.......and now i keep monitoring my usage.....about 2 days back it was okay.....but now it shows i hav d'loaded 4.7gb excluding night usage......

    2.8gb has been added 2day only......it also shows dat d d'loadin strtd at 1.23 in night and lasted till about 7.16 in d mornin......for d date 31/07/08........

but i always strt my d'loadin at about 2.15 p.m......and i am quite sure of doin d same dat day also........but even if i had been wrong.....shud'nt dey take 500mb in xcluding night usage......i mean i can only d'load a max dat much till 2 p.m...........and d rest shud b free........

i think i am in for another inflated bill........and i am certainley not payin dis one.....so i can either fight wid dem again.....or tell dem to cut my cnnction off......

    wat shud i doo.....????

As I have been always advising our forum members to get an unlimited connection due to issues with billing with almost every isp in India and the customer support being a bit too short of being called satisfactory.

You can take a stand on this but then more hassel will follow as they will disconnect your line and will not provide another connection at the same address unless you do some under the table act with some babu out there.

To stay away from trouble the only fool proof solution is to get an unlimited connection.

For your current bill just go to the bsnl office an talk to some one there and put up a written complaint with a print out of usage page showing the times and data usage. If things dont get sorted ask for the contact details of their nodal officer and farward all the complaint numbers and details to the nodal officer.

You do stand a chance if BSNL has not covered this in their agreement. If Bsnl has at any point of time made an announcement or written on the agreement that you have to disconnect and again connect after 2am or when ever the free time starts then you dont stand a chance as most of the charged bandwidth falls in the catagory where you have logged in before 2am and kept downloading till morning.
In a consumer court it would go in your favour if you can prove that bsnl never advised you of this log off and log on again thing while signing up and never made an attempt to educate you about this fact in their reasonable capacity.

bsnl has never put anywhere this information that you have to logoff/restart modem at 2AM unlike MTNL which has a clear message below the plans details that"user must restart modem at 2AM to avail NU" so don't worry about any legal aspects.your case is as strong as it can be.also i don't think matter will come that far just talk to AO(accounts officer)& he will most probably correct your bill.i have seen many such people getting their bill corrected.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

If thats the case then you can even take your 3 months old bill to get the amount corrected.

I hope your bills get sorted asap

dude make sure only you are using the account and not some one else.maybe your account has been hacked and some 1 else has been using it.it has happened to my friends.keep a time log of your account usage in pen and paper and compare it with the online usage charts.also change ur modem password from admin to something else.

To make sure ur account not used from anywhere else try login with ur username and password from some other line. If it gets connected ur account may not b binded to ur port. In such case only ur excess billing issue has some point.
If bsnl people find that all usage r from ur port only forget about excess billing.
to check wether ur port is binded or not just msg ur tel. no. with STD code to my
email id netix.bb@gmail.com. I have some contacts in nodal office I will get for u.

@iorhld,@netix,@relton please read the first post before replying.the thread starter here has a problem with timing of the NU download being counted in day time i.e.from 1:23AM-7:16AM while he should be charged only for 1:23-2:00AM & rest should be free.it's not that he is complaining about usage which he does not know about.he started his download at 2:15AM but i think he forgets to restart/reconnect at 2AM & that's why this problem.

@prashant.cn21,use the new bsnl portal BSNL Portal to check your usage.it also shows the MAC address in front of every entry & MAC address is unique to every PC so you can easily found out if anyone else has used your account.
