it's not an ISP's responsibility to track down hackers unless required by law & i don't think rapidshare is going to follow indian laws to lodge a complaint so they have only this option---->block the IP range & then increase the security of their servers.that is why they are asking bsnl users to register a complaint but as we all know registering complaint to bsnl is different from registering a legal complaint by rapidshare to bsnl & that's why bsnl won't take any actions so don't bother calling bsnl.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

I just hope the remove the ban as soon as possible. Lot of guys(probably 99%) use rapidshare out there including me. After all rapidshare is ad free.

Somebody is f**king rapidshare I don't know what he wants. If I am not wrong he might be person who tried to hack the rapidshare time limit and failed.

So he trying to find an alternate to satisfy his effort.

BSNL sucks, Either we have to take a new connection or switch to Airtel or TataIndicom or Reliance.

The situation is looking pretty grave. BSNL doesn't know what RapidShare is, and RapidShare's ego is too big to initiate communication with BSNL authorities. In the meantime, we the consumers of both BSNL and RapidShare are getting deprived.

It is very true that BSNL cannot catch some so called hacker out of the blue until RapidShare contacts them and specifically files a complain. There are millions of websites out there. Is it ever possible for any ISP to know who is trying to hack into what unless there is a specific complaint?

But it is also true that BSNL guys are much too sluggish about taking any steps whatsoever. I remember there had been a series of abuses on Orkut from BSNL IP addresses and Kolkata Police submitted IP addresses and time procured from Google to BSNL for the postal addresses, names. Even after pressurizing them for months, BSNL did not care to share any information. While it is a good thing for some who download those *ahem* kinda stuff, but people should not feel invincible sitting behind a BSNL terminal, getting everyone else into trouble and causing them all inconvenience.

If one of the two does not come forward to resolve the issue for the sake of us consumers, I don't see this situation getting resolved for good in immediate future.

Well instead of catching the hacker I don't see a reason why such a huge company cannot build a bit more secured servers.Given no security can prevent hacking attempts but mass banning people from that ISP isn't a solution.A company like rapidshare knows that no matter what there is going to be more hacking attempts & this kind of move will only aggravate the customers more & more. The best thing that they can do is probably try to beef up their security measures & fix up possible loopholes.Mass blocking only shows their helplessness towards tackling this situation. This is just retarded.

Very true, but there is a thing called clear and present danger. This sort of thing never happened to them before. Now that they have been hit, they will think of something I am sure. But right after the moment of impact, there is a huge chance always to be caught off guard. So until they do their house-cleaning, they can't afford to lift the ban. Whoever this hacker is, he is quite determined to keep us banned!

It is natural that we are all pissed as hell on RS right now, but all they can do is to keep apologizing for the inconvenience and shouting on the coding division, asking them to make hustle.
