Hey i think error 676 is something that is too common with BSNL.

But if the issue was because of Wrong username and password i think thats correct.

Good to know that Not a BSNl issue

DEAR FRIEND !
ACTUALLY I M A SIMPLE BROADBAND USER LIKE U.I WAS IN TROUBLE SINCE A LONG TIME AS MY MODEM IS GIVING ERROR 676 EVERYTIME.SO I SEARCHED AND FOUND THESE SETTINGS ON UTSTAR WEBSITE BUT IN A BRIEF.SO I THOUGHT TO EXPAND IT'S IDEA BETWEEN ALL OF THEM WHO ARE FACING THE SAME PROBLEM.
BUT WHAT I THINK IS THAT BY DEFAULT THE USERNAME AND PASSWORD IS SET AS MULTIPLAY ON OUR MODEM CONFIG. SITE.SO IT'S TRYING TO CONNECT WITH THAT USERNAME AND PASSWORD WHICH IS WRONG AND WE ARE STRUGGLING ON OUR DESKTOP TO CONNECT VIA OUR METHOD.SO I THINK THAT'S THE POINT.
THANKS FOR UR REPLY..

Default To remove Error 676 : the phone line is busy Reply to Thread

SOLUTION FOR REMOVING ERROR 676:PHONE LINE BUSY

error 676 is what you will get if you try to dial connection from windows while modem is set in pppoe mode.bsnl modems now comes with a default pppoe connection with default username/password as multiplay/multiplay.

TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM...type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your internet browser and press go(or enter with keyboard).....it will ask for username n password.....type admin/admin as username/password n press ok......now a page with DATAONE at the top will come....on the left side of the screen you wil have few options.....1).device info 2). advance setup etc...click(single click) advance setup thro your mouse....on right side of your screen u will get a table.....now look for the option 0/35 (normally it is the first option in first line)....click on the edit against this option....now on the next page click "next" and on the next page u will get connection type(pppoA, pppoE.......bridging).....select bridging by single click on it.....thn click on "next" and again "next" and then "save" and then "save/reboot".......

that is it.....now ur modem will reboot itself....now wait for dsl led to get stable....now connect ur internet.....u will not get this problem ever again.....take care
