Default Error 676 : the phone line is busy

    Hi friends ,

I am new here with the old problem.(But problem still new for me)

I subscribed 750+plus BSNL plan which was working perfectly in beginning,
the first month of subscription. The problem have been frustrating me for 4 days. When I connect to Internet it says error 676: the phone line is busy.

I have to reset my dataone router (the type 1 provided by bsnl) several
times to connect to Internet desperately frustratingly. After several times
resetting my modem it connects dramatically.Once connected, router
    functions charmingly without any problem.

To solved the above I tried these:
    1)set the service name 'dataone'
    2)changed the mode to bridged
    3)recreated the connection
    4)scanned my pc for spywares
5)banged my head against the wall
    6)prayed before the god

but problem still persists please help

    OS:Windows xp sp2 . city=durg , state : chhattisgarg

    best regards,
    Spectre

Lodge a complain to your local BSNL exchange. they will solve your problem. As I think this problem is from BSNL side.

Bro if you have already tried all this then call BSNL as it seems to be a line fault..

and before calling BSNL try to reinstall your modem drivers (if you are using any USB modem)

Well I have type 1 modem provided my BSNL : UT300R2U
I reinstalled it in my Windows xp sp2 with accords with cd provided my
BSNL.I did not use any usb drivers.

Is there any usb driver for installing the same router?
if so, please provide me the driver link.

Thumbs up Issue with your Phoneline

Try again - check tel no dialled - try alternative tel nos - handset test - modem problem…update drivers - phone line fault

The server they are dialling is busy - try again later.

the better idea is to contact BSNL once so that they can confirm if its a line fault or not....

    Default problem Solved :D

    The problem was connection sync.

I installed the router in bridged mode but router setting was in ppoe mode
    with wrong user-id and password.

As I tried to connect it via bridged mode ,the router was trying it in ppoe mode
with wrong information and messed settings. So there was connection sync.

Of course the phone line was busy. LOL

Now I have set my router in ppoe with correct settings.

    thanks for your supports

this thing sounds preety strange to me...

if you are already using a router then why are you using DUN connection and if your username/ password was incorrect then it should return as Error 691 Username or password invalid on domain.
third thing if your Encapsulation was incorrect and it was PPPoA where it shoud be PPPoE then also it can not come with Error 676

and sync problem means when you dont get DSL/ADSL/Link light on modem or router, in short tearm it is known as NSC (no Syncronisation)

what do you think admin, Just4kix, whitestar, player... and all comm members... :cursing:
please correct me if i m wrong

error 676 is what you will get if you try to dial connection from windows while modem is set in pppoe mode.bsnl modems now comes with a default pppoe connection with default username/password as multiplay/multiplay which you have to change to your bsnl username/password to get connected.by sync i think he means connecting not the syncing with exchange.

I said it was connection sync problem.

Because on the one hand router was automatically connecting and on the
    other hand I was trying.

In my router the default, pppoe mode setting was messed up and I created my connection as bridged mode. When I dialed , the router was automatically trying so I was receiving error: 676.

so it was saying 'phone line is busy'.

thanks for your replies once again

    Default 676 error

    HI

bsnl nOW SAYS THAT ITS PREFERABLE THAT YOU CONFIGURE YOUR MODEM IN PPPoe MODE.

    THE OTHER REMEDIES CAN BE
    1. REMOVE YOUR TEL LINE FROM THE SPLITTER AND RECONNECT IT AS SOME TIMES THE LINE FORMS A LOOP AFTER USING THE TELEPHONE.
    2. TRY DELETING THE PPPOoE DIALER AND CREATE A NEW DIALER EVEN THIS HAS SERVED THE PURPOSE FOR LOT OF PPL.

    You are absolutely right

And in my router's pppoe mode ,the debug mode was not checked so I did
not see any error message regarding my username-password.

    configure your modem in pppoe-----
    BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU
you will get error 676 if either exchange is too busy because of many users or your modem is set in pppoe mode & you are trying to dial connection from computer.

I heard that sometimes you get error 676 if you changed the BB user password and it is not correctly registered in the NIB server.

Hey i think error 676 is something that is too common with BSNL.

But if the issue was because of Wrong username and password i think thats correct.

Good to know that Not a BSNl issue

    DEAR FRIEND !
ACTUALLY I M A SIMPLE BROADBAND USER LIKE U.I WAS IN TROUBLE SINCE A LONG TIME AS MY MODEM IS GIVING ERROR 676 EVERYTIME.SO I SEARCHED AND FOUND THESE SETTINGS ON UTSTAR WEBSITE BUT IN A BRIEF.SO I THOUGHT TO EXPAND IT'S IDEA BETWEEN ALL OF THEM WHO ARE FACING THE SAME PROBLEM.
BUT WHAT I THINK IS THAT BY DEFAULT THE USERNAME AND PASSWORD IS SET AS MULTIPLAY ON OUR MODEM CONFIG. SITE.SO IT'S TRYING TO CONNECT WITH THAT USERNAME AND PASSWORD WHICH IS WRONG AND WE ARE STRUGGLING ON OUR DESKTOP TO CONNECT VIA OUR METHOD.SO I THINK THAT'S THE POINT.
    THANKS FOR UR REPLY..
