Instead of improving facilities we tend to find 800+ possible excuses of why this can't be done in India.

have u done anything 4 improving it, rather than sitting idle and giving only negative reply to everyone.

my broadband pass came within 5 days as directly called to director's office.the call center person recalled me and gave me password immediately.

I live in chandkheda, ahmedabad ( for college i shifted here). Our area transformer blows out everytime, when there is rain. it was there for past 25 yrs. i tried to have other people's co-op to resolve the problem but they told "jo system chaltha aaya hai, wo chalta rahega". but i never resigned, i called the electricity authority, wandered at their office of continuously for 4-5 days. then on one day they came and changed transformer and now even with strongest rain, thers no electricity prob.

Wow! So I have touched some raw skin ...

First of all, I hate it when people say things are so great in America, England, Australia, etc. Note that they have had tremendous advantage over us. If I remember correctly, as late (early) as 3 years ago, many internet connections in America were sold with download restrictions. In 2003-04 when I was in UK, the BT Broadband connection I had was unlimited @ 512 kbps only and I was paying £19.99 per month (about Rs. 1600).

At that time (2003-04) there was hardly any BB in India. But where are we now? I am quite sure that in a couple of years we shall get even better services.

To provide internet service requires huge capital outlay and purchasing bandwidth from satellites and undersea cable owners. Plus there is cost of installing DSLAM circuits, servers, license fees, etc. These are early days in India. Costs will come down. Remember mobile phones - when they started (in 1996-7), the charges were Rs. 18 per call (outcoming). I was myself paying Rs. 4.20 outgoing, rs. 2.10 incoming in 2000.

Note that we do not have huge resources at our disposal. A huge chunk of people in India do not get two square meals a day and here we are crying about low BB speeds. I am not saying things should not change - they should; but India should have different priorities. I am not giving excuses for anyone.

BSNL is providing good and cheap service to all (in comparison to others in India). Instead of cursing BSNL we should appreciate them for what they are doing and then cajole them to raise the bar higher.

I much appreciate what you have done to resolve the electricity problem in your area. You definitely need a pat on the back for your effort. Do keep up the good work.

patience is the key to everything.just wait for 1-2 years & hopefully situation in broadband field will improve.however i do like to point out one thing which is about priorities.broadband is not an essential service like electricity or water on which people's life depends literally.what good is an UL connection if you face 12-14 hours power cut daily which is the situation in many parts of our country?those who say that we must do something about speeds by way of complaining to bsnl should realize that for most people improving electricity/water situation in their area comes first.keep in mind that cellular services in India haven't improved by people's protest but by themselves because of simple law of demand & supply.same thing will happen in broadband field when the time comes.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Dude ... as mentioned by a number of folks .. It's all about peace of mind.
I had the Home 500 C + plan but changed it to UL 750 to avoid all the hassles concerning scheduling and more importantly keeping tabs on the limit. Have only had BSNL for five months or so but changed from the 500 plan after my first month.

So in the end its 'to each his or/her own' and 'live and let live' ... Amen and ahem!

Buddy UL750 is NOT for downloading huge stuff!!!

Its just a matter of browsing the net 24x7 whole time without worrying abt the amount of BANDWIDTH used

Did it ever occur to you that during ur last days of a month say from 25th - 31st october,
"Wish I had used less bandwith this month so that I get to browse in NOW."
As matter of fact ur health problems will be adding to ur bill !!

    What do u say ?

I am in a remote village where no pvt operator comes. But thanks to BSNL I got HUL 750 last month. I opted for this because I surf & DL whenever I like without having any headache of exceeding limit. If everybody starts 100's of GB just for the sake of downloading what bandwidth the country may recquire?

How do you download frm Rapidshare, Megaupload, Deposit files etc which does not support Dl managers for free users? during free hours

They cant or otherwise they cant sleep the whole night.
And u r right ---just for the sake of dwnloading---nobody would seriously need 3000 Gbs data/month to satisfy themselves.

There is a download manager for free users to download multiple Rapidshare files without any hassle. I have tested it and was working when I did. You need to enter a captcha code at the begining only. Don't remember it's name now. I haven't used Rapidshare since I changed to Home 750 UL.

Scratch that, I haven't used Rapidshare since I changed to Broadband.

There has been a lot which promises to work on those lines but not a single one worked in reality.
The last one which created alot of hype (& may be working some aswell) doesnt work for me becoz my AV found lot of trozans in it.

yeah, there used to be such softwares (rapidleechers they r called) and I had downloaded many files using them a few years back. But rapidshare upgrades their security on a daily basis so these softs render useless after a few months of surfacing.

brace the fact that many people actually do need large amount of data (NOT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF DOWNLOADING).
I myself download heavily (though not 3000GB) and end up regretting about not being able to get some stuff I also needed.

I am very curious to know what do they download for 316 GB in a month & where do they save the 316 GB content.

People choose the plan depending on the their requirement. So people who have selected 500/750 UL plan have their own requirement & purpose. So,without knowing the what's their (750 UL users) requirement is,we cant tell them fools.

    & once again

Download contents can not be discussed remember............
As 4 saving my 120GB/month, I constantly create backup discs and remove from HDD for more downloads.
