Default UL 750 users seem to be fool.

    UL 750 Plan

    Down speed = 32KB/s max
    Total Download in 1 Day = 32KB/s * 60 * 60 * 24 = 2764800 KB = 2700 MB
Total Download in 2 months (PC FULL ON) = 162000 MB = 158 GB
Total PC power consumption = 300 W (minimum) per hour
    Total Power consumption in 2 months (Full ON) = ((300 * 24)/1000)*60 = 432 KWH
    Total Money(conidering Rs. 4/unit) = 432*4 = RS.1728
    Price due to broadband = Rs.750/month = Rs.1500 for 2 months = Rs. 1682 with service tax
    Total Money = 1728 + 1632 = Rs. 3360 for 2 months = Rs.1680/month

    Price PER GB = 1680/158 = Rs. 10.65/GB

    HOME 500C

    Down speed = 256KB/s max
    Total Download in 6hrs (2AM-8AM) = 256KB/s * 60 * 60 * 6 = 5400 MB
    Total Download in 2 months (PC Night 6hrs) = 324000 MB = 316 GB
Total PC power consumption = 300 W (minimum) per hour
    Total Power consumption in 2 months (Full ON) = ((300 * 6)/1000)*60 = 108 KWH
    Total Money(conidering Rs. 4/unit) = 108*4 = RS.432
    Price due to broadband = Rs.500/month = Rs.1000 for 2 months = Rs. 1121 with service tax
    Total Money = 432 + 1121 = Rs. 1553 for 2 months = Rs.777/month

    Price PER GB = 777/316 = Rs. 2.45/GB

    Conclusion

    Extra Price Paid = 10.65-2.45 = 8.20/Gb

So inspite of this we are using it.

you are absolutely correct.within 9 days of getting my UL 750 connection i knew i was in big trouble.also i have to keep my PC on 24/7 stressing the components to get maximum BANG.thats why i will be moving to 500 connection next month.

    BTW 256 *60*60*6=5400 Mb

Home Plan 500 have night unlimited. Yes!!!!! 'NIGHT UNLIMITED. That means your biological clock for sleeping time will be disturbed and for this you have to a lots of bill to the hospital. (Though shedular are there still for confirmation at least you have to check onece at 2AM). Thus I think include the hospital bill to your calculation and then draw a conclusion.

    Haha, nice one.

That is the reason why i focussed on 750UL plan upgradation such that it gives speed of 2mbps in 2am-8am slot ATLEAST.

    Maybe u can do something.

You might be right in calculating the price paid per GB but thats not what most people are after ... by getting an unlimited connection the biggest benefit is peace of mind that you will only be billed a certain amount of money every month regardless of how much you use the internet and its a different story that you can only download so much but not every one downloads movies or music.

The problem with our service providers is that more often then not they will send you bills with stupid amounts of money and may be in the end you might get the bill corrected but have you ever thought about the time and energy spent in running to and from their office and the stress?

I have always advised everyone to go for an unlimited connection regardless of what they do with their connection to be imune to this billing problem which is so widespread in India.

This calculation is totally illogical. 750UL is calculated on a per day basis, while 500C is being calculated only for the free period. Kindly calculate this on the per day basis and then get post a valid statistic, otherwise let the free hours be there but calculate the power usage etc. for those many hours alone.

Surprising how nobody noticed this .... this is just a real example how marketing people dupe people ... by ignoring some thing and focussing on other. 500C continuously has a sword on your head of extra use. 750UL is total peace of mind.

No hard feelings, just a post to report the error in calculation which makes all figures illogical.

    Thumbs up

    o m g.

    H750 is excellent plan.

u can surf or play online games anytime in day.

for torrent no need to put headache like scheduler. just start whenever u want. stop whenever u want, simple.

in H500 plans u have to afraid & continuously check ur usage bcz u have 2.5 GB limit. & that is not enough for surfing.:51:

    Default Title correction

Can i change the title, i think it should be 'fooled' rather than 'fool'.
Attack on BSNL rather than general public.

THE ABOVE CALCULATION IS PERTAINING TO "HOW BSNL IS MAKING FOOL"

    PEACE OF MIND.
Exactly, that why i switched to 750UL from 500.

The above calculation is "may be" how BSNL is making fool. Your approach is slightly incorrect, rather incoherent. This is because you are accounting for only the free hours provided with the 500C as opposed to your taking into account full 24 hours for the unlimited period.

When you take into account the extra usage at Rs. 0.8 per MB, it will turn out to be stratospherically higher than the unlimited.

    Total Download in 1 Day = 256KB/s * 60 * 60 * 24 = 21600 MB
Total Download in 2 months (PC FULL ON) = 1265.625 GB
    FREE DOWNLOAD FOR 2 MONTHS (Night UL) = 316 + 1.5 + 1.5 GB = 319 GB
TOTAL CHARGEABLE BANDWIDTH = 946.625 GB

Total PC power consumption = 300 W (minimum) per hour
    Total Power consumption in 2 months (Full ON) = ((300 * 24)/1000)*60 = 432 KWH
    Total Money(conidering Rs. 4/unit) = 432*4 = RS.1728
    Price due to broadband = Rs.500/month = Rs.1000 for 2 months
    EXTRA PRICE OF BANDWIDTH (Rs. 0.8 per MB/ Rs. 819.2 per GB) = 946.625 GB * 819.2 = Rs. 7,75,475.2
    TOTAL PAYABLE FOR TWO MONTHS = 7,76,475.2 + 12.36% (1000 rent added) = Rs. 8,72,447.534
    Total Money = 1728 + 8,72,447.534 = Rs. 8,74,175.934 for 2 months = Rs. 4,37,087.767/month

Price PER GB (TAKING ONLY THE NO. OF GBs PAID FOR) = 4,37,087.767/946.625 = Rs. 461.732/GB

This is the real calculation :: Now all the factors are constant, as in, the number of hours accounted are same, computer is on 24 hours now in both cases, the free GBs have been rightfully eliminated.

Anyone having any queries over this calculation, do suggest !! 750UL is the most appropriate!

guyz... just think abt the users who want internet the whole day..
    take me as an example...
i got selected in HCL Tech and waiting for Joining date..
i want internet the whole day...
i am in a town and i dont have any other option other than spending time on net.
what would anyone suggest me regarding bsnl plans..???
if i take 500... no doubt, i would end up with atleast 5K xtra bill..
right now, i use internet... the browsing speed is very satisfactory...
the only thing is download speed.. even you tube streaming is OK..
u wait for a min, u can see the whole video..
regarding the download of films... if i want a film, i will keep download and sleep at 12 or 1 AM... by the time, i wake up in the morning, it will be over..
    so, one film every night...

so, if u are a download mad guy.. 500 would be good..
but, for people like me who want internet more for browsing during day time..
then no doubt.. 750 is the best option...
i can even have skype video conference and all stuff dude...
32kBps is OK for many issues over Internet..
so, we are not fools at all..
if u have another good explanation... u r welcome to give that....

He is assuming free download period only and comparing apples to oranges.

My questions are, assuming that some one uses the complete bandwidth available

    - what is it that you will download to the tune of 160 GB per month?
    - where are you going to store so much data? Wipe out the previous month's dowloads?
    - most movies on torrents or RS are in DVix/XVid format (about 700 MB per movie). In 160 GB you will be able to download 234 movies. When are you going to get the time to watch that?

So this is a pointless comparison. Use whatever plan is suitable to you.

    well said just4kix...
i do have those ques in mind...
    let me tell u...
anything above 100GB per month is a waste..
i mean, if u really looking for useful data.. that will not go beyond 100GB..
let that be films or anything stuff..
just think to yourself.. if I am downloading 200Gb per month.. how much in that is really usefull to me ??
I know many people.. who just download stuff becoz he has free night hours.. out of the data he downloaded he deletes half the next day...
but where is the guy, who started this ?????

my dear friend churpilla has made a nice calculation i.e
for plan UL 750 Total download in 1 day is 2700 MB
for plan 500 Total downlaod in 6 hrs is 5400 MB
    LOL !!!
Have you ever thought for 500 plan if you download 5400 MB how much you will be billed for that? it is Rs= 2300 for that single day + your data transfer per MB on other 29 days (imagine) + Rs 500 (rental) = minimum 2800+++++++ you count it
Similerly for 750 plan you will be billed = Rs 750
now you include this in your smart calculation.
BTW it was nice and it may applay for people who want to use 500 plan for one singe day in a month ha ha ha !!!

    Ummmm ... not exactly.

You would download 5400 MB during free times and hence you would not be liable to pay a single paisa - provided that you reset the modem at 2 AM and again at 8 AM.

But my whole point was how much can you really download and make effective use of?

    Wat a kick-off.

When people are attacked upon by words, they start to comment and when i started a thread regarding 750UL plan upgrade, i got merely 5 replies, the rest being made myself.

I receive received a mail after i sent to BSNL. They replied me by saying:

(copied from FAQ question, so BSNL dosen't read at all)

BNSL aims to provide fast, reliable service to all the broadband customers. Some customers try to hog disproportionate amount of available resources.

Well in UL 750 one can download maximum of 32*24*60*60/1024 = 2700 MB. But in Home 500 one can download 5400 MB thus its better. Thats true but only if you want to download stuff I mean for people who works online they need UL plans.

you won't be downloading 5400MB in home 500 because you will never get more than 1.8mbps on a 2mbps line unless your line rate is higher than 2mbps which is the case for very few bsnl users.you can download ~4600-5000MB from 2-8AM in home 500.
