Thread: yippie... but thank god...

hi guys.. i found out somethin.. guess wat.. u don need to shut down n on ya modem for night unlimited plans........... TRY FOR SMALL DOWNLOADS 1ST CONFIRM CHECK YA USAGE N THEN PROCEED........

here is how i found it.. wat happened is i turned on ma wifi in evenin around 7 pm.. then i was usin ma net.. suddenly i had some work so went out.. turnin off ma pc.. NOT MA MODEM.. i forgot turnin off ma modem.. i came bak in an hour or more.. came bak,, n slept as usual think to download after 2 am.. gettin up.. but unfortunatly i got up in morin 6 30. it went off ma mind tht i have to reboot ma modem... n i started downloadin.. i updated ma windows,, 66mb.. downloaded couple of softwares.. 30mb... total around 90 to 100 mb... then it stuck in ma mind.. offffffffffff i forgot to reboot.. now wat?? ****.. i will be charged if i exceeed the limits.. ,, i crossed ma fingers.. n waited for next day.. for ma updated usage.. hopin it will b calculated in free hours........

ma usage was free...... yippie.. i checked,,, on 10th ie last day.. i wasnt calculated for tht in ma charged units...........

guys...... now a days i m not able to see ma free usage....... how come?? before i used to see ma free usage.. like i got ma broadband some 1 month back,, tht time when it was new.. i used to get 2 tables in ma account usage ... one chargable another one for ma free ie non chargable downloads.. now just gettin only first one.. how to see another??

Don't gamble on this.

I will tell you exactly what happened. Your modem is probably configured in PPPoE. Sometime after 2 AM your connection was lost and it was re-established automatically by the dialer. Hence all your usage has been calculated in the free time.

Please check back on usage details. Every time a modem connects and disconnects, the usage is recorded for the elapsed period. I am 100% sure that what has happened is exactly what I have stated.

p/s. What is the big deal in writing 'ma' instead of 'my', 'tht' instead of 'that', 'wat' instead of 'what'?

i agree that lot of people now consider using such language cool which is mainly used by american teens but people must also realize that americans are one of the worst faring people in terms of general knowledge,science etc.i remember reading some years back that 85% of surveyed american teens thought bangalore is India as that was the only name they heard because of IT.in my opinion i believed the survey as this is what i should expect from people using this type of language.

That lingo is not cool atall.. This lingo is normally used by underprivlaged circles of the societies in North America and UK aswell and mostly constitute of second or third generation African immigrants and is now getting immitated by whites aswell as other ethinic populations and its mainly the teens who suffer from some kind of inferiority complex and try to hide under this sort or demented English in an attempt to look cool infornt of others of their age group and to some extent elders as well in an attempt to create their seperate identity which in most cases dont exist as its all got lost while their parents were running their rat races which results in little or no attention towards their kids who grow up into very annoying attention seekers..

I have no idea what you do, where you are and how old you are. But it is safe to assume that you are much younger to me. So take this as an advice from an older brother ...

The written English that you are using is not a good style at all. Very soon it will become such a habbit that you may not be able to write properly at all. I do not know whether you are working or not - but in the corporate world, we are absolutely intolerant over such language even in speech! It is ok sometimes to use words like 'tonite' instead of 'tonight', etc. but that is the outer limit of the domain.

A point to be noted is, after 5-10 years in a technical field, you will rise up the corporate ladder solely on the (soft) skills like leadership, innovation and communication. I hate to see people going down the path that leads to problems (if not failure) and hence I always make it a point to correct them whenever I get a chance. This is my answer when you asked "what is your problem?". Call it my attitude or obsession.

Whitestar_999 and Admin were also right when they said that the style is that of uneducated people in the English speaking world. It is often heard in English movies and the same has been converted to written words. Some of us are blindly aping this and think that it is very cool. It definitely is not. One cannot twist a language and call it cool. The fad really started because of SMS and web chatting.

You said that you are a member of many other forums and never heard such comments there. So just ponder on this:

- What % of people on other (good) forums write the way you do?
- The best people out there will be most likely to be found to use proper language
- A forum that is full of people who write crudely is unlikely to be popular

To sum it up ...

The style is dangerous - it is like smoking - people find it initially cool and hep to smoke and later on they get hooked. There are few others on this forum to whom I have given similar advice (though not in so kind words).

Of course, if you are confident that writing like the way you do is not going to affect you at all, by all means do what you wish to do.

This is my final word and you will not hear any (nasty) comment from me again.

I don't know about milan but to be very honest i have taken the advice very seriously I used to put alot of slang language while writing my posts due to which sometimes I used to forgot the original spelling of the words...Therefore from today onwards I have made a point that I will not used any short cut of the word

im not sure how it works.. but i use a 500C Plus connection and i never have to restart my modem for anythin. infact.. im scared of switchin it off and on in fears of whether i'll ever get a stable conenction again.

ive downloaded loads of data free.. and it never charges me anythin for the ones i download between 2-8.. im aware how bsnl tracks it.. but ive never had any problems of them overchargin.. i keep tabs on how much ive downlaoded in the bsnl site itself.. thats more than enough.

i really understand this bro that its time saving thing when we type but its sounds rude in professional environment

i have suffered a lot because of using slang and short forms.as a result every now and then i have to turn on my cell phone dictionary to check my spellings.
