Rep Power: 0 | Hi, Yesterday I connected my new DLink DSL-2640T to my Windows XP computer. The internet connection was easily established and it works fine. However, WLAN indicator does not glow. My laptop does not find any Wireless network. (I have another computer with LinkSys Wireless modem in another room. My laptop senses it correctly.) When I reset the D-Link modem, the WLAN indicator glowws for a few seconds and then the light goes off. I have tried manual configuration, reset, reboot, and CD method several times. The same problem exists. I called the D-Link service call center. As you would expect, after waiting for a long time over phone, the call center woman asked me to reset the modem and reboot it and said shed did not know what the proble was and that I should send the modem to the service center that is 150 KM away from my place. 1. Did any one have similar problem with this modem? If yes, how did you solve it? 2. I have browsed many D-Link official websites for different countries for firmware upgrade. Strange, all websites have firmware upgrades except Indian website. The call center agent said Indian customers must send the modem to service center to get firmware upgrade! My Current Firmware Version : V3.02B01T01.EU-C.20070306 . Do any of you have a compatible firmware upgrade. Please note the upgrades from other countries will not work with this version. In the modem I am using only default values except: VPI = 0 I have configured several Wireless modems. So, if someone can please pinpoint the issue with this particular modem and/ or send me firmware upgrade I will be grateful. Thanks and regards, WC |

Rep Power: 12 | @gmg9 Start RUN type cmdtypeipconfig/all give feedback. 2.You can try connecting the RJ45 direct to LAN1 of 2640T and connect another Rj45 to computer ethernet port and try. If Ok, try wireless mode. Not sure.Checking details. D-Link DSL-2640B ADSL2/2+ Modem with Wireless Router Last edited by essbebe; 11-04-08 at 08:55 AM. |

| Aditya | as you said that WLAN light is not coming up on your router it means there may be a problem with router and you may need to contact D-link service centre only, i assume you have tried to config routers wireless setting in correct way and have tried auto and manual both channel selections. Please check summary/status page of your router and update here. I know its a very old post and you may have fixed this issue by your own but still it can help others who come here while searching the same issue |

another prob with that router is that, its getting super hot during operation. i dnt know why. it is natural or i need t to do something about it ??? @wcsingers i have also the same f/w version. bought that wifi adsl router yesterday. i found a link to some f/w versions. not sure if we can upgrade to one of them. plz chk here........ (ftp) 203.126.164.142/download/DSL-2640T/ the V3.02B01T01.EU-A.20080305 is not exactly matching with ur f/w version, we have EU-C, but it has EU-A, so not sure if it will work or not, but one can try. Rep Power: 2 | thx for ur reply, i have another q. is it ok if the modem+router stays always on, means switch on always. so that my friends also can connect through wifi. the d-link router gives me very good wifi. so i was bit scared if i keep the router always on, it may be not work properly because of heavy heat. |

Rep Power: 5 | definetly not a problem.. i leave mine on always.. 24/7 ..these devices are built for heavy usage.. networking devices are normally used 24/7 .. so there shouldnt be a problem.. and since yours is a dlink.. which is well reputed.. you shouldnt worry at all.. |

Rep Power: 0 | but can the DSL 2640 act as a gatway just by connecting LAN from external modem/rj45 in port 1? There is an option of configuring the router as web server but only port numbers can be defined, dunno about static IP. Is there any way to configure the static Ip within the router and specify a particular rj45 port as internet gateway?. Then will it be possible to dynamically assign IPs to the network devices both wired and wireless? |

Rep Power: 5 | most routers come with a dyndns client inbuilt.. so you could use that feature even for dynamic ips .. Prashanth Speaks-Technology and Life: How to Setup DYNDNS in your router |
